Day 88

Ship: Nepeta x Rose

Ship Song: 'Who Is She' by I Monster

'Oh, who is she? / A misty memory / A haunting face / Is she a lost embrace? / Somewhere across the sea of time / A love immortal such as mine / Will come to me / Eternally'

This ship befuddled me on how it'd even happen, but then I considered... Jasprosesprite? That works, so how could I transfer it to this ship? My solution was:

Jasprosesprite x Nepeta give it an honest shot. At first, there was a surprising lot to work through; secret feelings of inadequacy, Jasprose's pushiness, trust issues, some left over trauma. But they worked it all out. They kept coming together and communicating, neither wanting to get angry at the other, always compromising and apologizing. It was really good for both of them, getting serious enough that someone joked about all Roses ending up married to green alien girls.

Everyone laughed, but one of them. Jasprose went missing after a week. Nepeta is left feeling lost; utterly ghosted. Maybe she hadn't been good enough? Jasprose woke up and decided they didn't like putting so much effort into her? Ugh...

Time passed; no one had found the sprite. Nepeta moves on... with the help of time and friends. She was working, helping RoseMary with a job (they were really sweet to her when she felt depressed), when she came across Rose looking peculiar. Discolored and lost.

Nepeta called out to her, asking why she was there when she should've be somewhere else-

The person that looked back at her was not the one she had been helping.

Hissing, Nepeta's immediately on-edge, stepping back as the figure calmly walked towards her. She looked wrong, moved wrong, smelled wrong.

Nepeta felt so strange; her heartbeat quickened and she wanted to run, but... she didn't.

Despite all the red flags, this was still familiar. There was an ache in her chest she couldn't make out.

Closer now, the Rose looked at Nepeta with an expression she could now discern as... sad. Why?

Without warning, Nepeta was brought into a tight embrace. She would've pushed the strange woman back, if the sound of a small sob hadn't made her ears twitch and stomach drop.

Again, why did this hurt so much?

Her answer, came from words indecipherable to any onlookers.

'I'm sorry, I missed you.'
