i actually think it's so fucking romantic that in the epilogues, dave would rather never make a move on karkat than risk poisoning their relationship with the "conditioning" of his bro. every time he had a romantic or sexual thought about karkat, he had to feel it through dirk's narration, and scrutinize it against his trauma, and even without conscious awareness of why, he was still like No. karkat is the one thing my bro will not touch, even if that means i don't get to either.

disclaimer that i'm not all caught up on hsbc yet, but so far she's my favorite of the omega kids! her design goes so hard— the hair, the tie, the fuckin cleats?? she's so cool. and she brings that feral energy that is exactly what i'd expect from a jaderose kid.
i have a lot of thoughts about her existence in general too, and which directions i hope they take her story, but it's too much to contain in one post. overall though, i think her story is a compelling one, and im intrigued by what it says about rose & jade, and their relationships with kanaya & dave. personally, i find it much more fun to contemplate why someone would do something like cheat on their partner, than if they would. i think people's morals and hard lines can be pretty malleable in the right conditions, and exploring that territory in a story is exciting. that's probably why i'm such a fan of the epilogues & hsbc— they're absolutely full of our faves making questionable choices under very specific circumstances. also, i'm a sucker for a weird & tragic backstory, so it's no wonder that yiffy and tavvy are the omega kids i'm most excited about.
anyway, since i was inspired, here's the sketch i made of yiffany as i picture her! i'll post the finished piece separately once i finish it (:
no see the strilondes know about their issues (a good chunk of them, at least) but are terrified of changing and losing the familiarity of whatever pain they're used to. what if the new pain is worse? that, or they're convinced they can't/don't deserve to change. the harleyberts though....... they're scared to even LOOK at themselves.
