Neoplatonism and the Birth Chart
There's the Neoplatonic idea that the soul chooses its own life before birth, going through the planetary spheres one by one and getting qualities or sparkles from each planet. It gets love from Venus, aggression from Mars, and so on. From that perspective, the birth chart, every placement in it, is chosen by the incarnating soul as a reflection of its karmic pattern, prenatal experiences, and redemptive choices. We have chosen our parents, circumstances, difficulties, and joys, and now we have to live out our myth to the fullest, as Carl Jung says. Astrologically, this aligns with the symbolism of Saturn and Neptune, the two karmic planets that bring limitation, suffering, confusion, blurry boundaries, erected inner walls, and isolation.
Divine spark theology is really cool if you take it to its logical absurd conclusion, which is that everyone is the same person because everyone is a piece of the universe looking at itself. This becoming literal on Pluribus doesn't seem like a good outcome though, because humans have gotten bored without new writing. From a mystical perspective, Pluribus is a hubristic attempt to reunite with a divine source.
