Something i’ve noticed talking to people who aren’t really into saw but have seen atleast one of them is they always remember the needle pit, I just think it’s interesting how much of an impact it makes specifically on non-fans (normal people ig).
It probably has something to do with how jarring it is learning about Amanda’s past then immediately seeing her be thrown into the pit unfairly along with Shawnee Smith’s performance as she digs through it.
Anyway I think it’s interesting that in a franchise that is known for its gruesome traps and is often criticized for its lack of traps, one of the most personal and less graphic (except for the needles sticking out of Amanda’s arms) traps leaves the most impact.
