Being summoned by the Skeleton King left one with little choice. Show up for be destroyed. And Scrapperton had already done everything in his power to live a long life he wasn’t going to throw it all away because he didn’t drop what he was doing and immediately answer the call.

He scrambled into the room, almost falling over himself before correcting himself with a bow.

“I always did like a challenge.”

“Oh. Okay.” He remains quiet for a minute, before finally speaking up again. 

Sanguis stifled a yelp in their throat and stumbled forward. Funny how one should be concerned about tone when they hadn’t the dignity to stand their ground instead of surrender. 

Regardless, they came along as instructed. Their heart thudded in their chest, but they maintained their poise behind their mask. They would not die. Not now. Part of it worried them for the future, another made it easier to be obedient. A dismal thought made them snicker--thank their god, nobody would be waiting on them to return. 

    sprx wasn’t a stranger to nightmares, especially since his corruption. if he hadn’t blacked out from exhaustion due to their day-to-day lives fighting evil, he was having nightmares about what he had become, what he was forced to do. he never asked for help regarding these dreams either, since the others were dealing with their own sort of personal demons.

    meanwhile, his demons were trying to pull him into a vat of skeleton king brand dream goo. 

   he tried to cry out for help, but his voice wouldn’t come. he struggled against the ooze, barely keeping his head above the surface. the only thing he could hear was the laughter of the skeleton king, standing at the edge of the shore watching as sprx drowned. 

The belitting voice caused his jaw to clench, claws digging into the inside of his skin as the grunt is forced to swallow his pride. As much as Mandarin detested this, he wasn’t dumb enough to belittle a demon.

Not this demon anyway.

“You will never know the torture I faced in pretending to follow that witch, but seeing you here now Sire..it was all worth it.”
