Why the natural-rubber floor is still holding
Natural rubber is not falling. Three signs say so. CEAT's FY26 report calls rubber prices volatile but 'moderated in the second half,' with rubber about 53% of its raw-material basket. Recycler GRP Ltd saw its Rubber Recycling segment result rise 71% to Rs 19.23 crore in Q1 FY27. Asian futures held firm, with Osaka near 421.6 yen/kg. Oil at a six-week high on shipping risk is lifting synthetic grades, while soft China tyre demand pulls back. For India, input cost is off its peak but not cheap.

Kerala raises natural-rubber support price to Rs 250/kg in budget
Kerala's small and marginal rubber farmers have welcomed the state budget decision to raise the support price of natural rubber to Rs 250/kg from Rs 200/kg.
The increase comes under the Rubber Production Incentive Scheme.
The move was widely expected after the ruling UDF's election-manifesto promise.
The scheme was introduced to protect growers from falling rubber prices.
Former Rubber Board chairman PC Cyriac said the decision would significantly help small growers.
Small growers account for nearly 70% of Kerala's rubber-farming community.
The higher support price is expected to encourage more farmers to resume tapping and improve productivity.
Floor price relevance
Cyriac noted that the immediate impact may be limited because domestic natural-rubber prices are currently trading above Rs 250/kg.
Recent editions have highlighted record domestic rubber prices.
However, the support price becomes important if international and domestic prices decline.
It gives farmers a guaranteed floor and confidence to maintain production.
Untapped plantations
Indian Rubber Dealers Federation president George Valy said the move would encourage growers to bring untapped plantations back into production.
It could also support replanting of ageing rubber trees.
He estimated that 20-25% of plantations remain untapped.
Of these, 10-15% are senile trees that need replanting.
Rubber and tyre value-chain impact
For India's rubber and tyre value chain, the policy reinforces the supply-side revival of Kerala's plantation economy.
That matters as tyre makers navigate record input costs across natural rubber, synthetic rubber and carbon black.
The key monitorables are tapping-resumption rates through the monsoon, replanting uptake, and the stabilising role of the support-price floor if the current record price run reverses.
This is meaningful policy support for the plantation economy that anchors India's domestic natural-rubber supply.

SMR 20 Hits Nine-year High On Tight Supply, EV Demand http://dlvr.it/TT3xr5
India's tyre exports hit record Rs 27,312 crore in FY26
India’s tyre exports reached a record Rs 27,312 crore in FY26.
That is 9% higher than Rs 25,057 crore in the previous fiscal.
The United States remained the largest market.
It accounted for Rs 4,082 crore, or 15% of export value.
However, its share declined from 17% after tariff changes affected Indian tyre imports.
The US raised tariffs from 25% to 50% in August 2025.
A later reduction to 18% in February 2026 provided some relief.
Germany, Italy, Brazil and France were among the other major destinations.
ATMA linked the export performance to diversification and cost optimisation.
The tyre industry has invested around Rs 30,000 crore in capacity expansion over four to five years.
The industry’s estimated annual turnover is around Rs 1 lakh crore.
But the margin picture is becoming more difficult.
JK Tyre has flagged an expected 18–20% rise in its raw-material basket in Q1FY27 versus Q4FY26.
The basket includes natural rubber, carbon black, synthetic rubber, polyester cord, nylon cord and process oils.
Natural rubber prices have also reached a nine-year high on global exchanges.
The key point is that India’s tyre export story is strong, but raw-material inflation could pressure margins in the June quarter.

RSS3 values ease after holding near recent highs
RSS3 rubber values moved lower during the latest assessment cycle after maintaining steady trading conditions through most of May. The domestic market weakened from recent highs, although broader comparisons still indicate substantially stronger market positioning relative to earlier periods. Indian RSS3 Rubber prices were assessed at Rs 245/kg in Delhi on May 25, compared with Rs 259/kg a week earlier after prolonged activity near the recent peak around Rs 268/kg.
The fortnight comparison reflects a moderate pullback from levels near Rs 262/kg recorded earlier this month, while month-on-month movement remained broadly aligned with the Rs 256/kg level seen in late April. Over the past three months, the market strengthened sharply from levels close to Rs 164/kg. Six-month comparisons also showed substantially firmer domestic trading conditions compared with late-2025 levels near Rs 145/kg. Indian RSS3 Rubber prices therefore continue maintaining elevated broader positioning despite the latest correction. Current RSS3 Rubber prices in India also remain well above the lower end of the recent trading range near Rs 164/kg, highlighting comparatively firm domestic conditions through the quarter with limited day-to-day fluctuations visible during most recent trading sessions,RSS3, Rubber Market, Natural Rubber, Price Correction, Market Movement, Recent Highs.
