A shadow | An alternate universe of Gravity falls
An interesting question I have is... What would have happened if Stanley had an... alter ego? A split personality? Call it what you want. But it's not normal... Like everything related to The Pines family.
I will officially introduce you to my concept of… Stanley Pines' shadow...
Yelnats
Stanley Pines has a shadow called… Nats… its full name is Yelnats, though it goes by nicknames like Nat, Nats, or Jellyfish.
Yelnats isn't simply Stanley's "dark side," but an entity completely alien to humanity.
Long before Earth existed, even before civilizations were capable of naming good and evil, there were entities whose nature was to feed what was already hidden within living beings.
Yelnats was one of them. It wasn't a demon. It wasn't a god. It wasn't a ghost. It was a primordial anomaly. Its existence consisted of a single function: to bring out the worst in others.
It didn't create evil. It found it. It fed it. It made it grow until it completely consumed its host.
For countless ages, it traveled across different worlds, observing intelligent species destroying each other. He never understood concepts like love, compassion, or sacrifice; they seemed absurd to him. For him, violence was the most honest state of any creature.
His existence took a new form when an ancient shaman discovered how to imprison him.
Unable to destroy such an ancient entity, the shaman fused his essence into a bronze ingot in a powerful ritual.
Centuries later, that metal was reused countless times until it finally became a pair of bronze knuckles.
No one knew their true origin. To everyone else, they were just old knuckles.
Until Stanley Pines bought them during his years living on the streets.
And he made the mistake of using them too many times for too long.
