My chickens found some lovely wild, native cherry trees on my property this morning. Shows you how much I explore my own yard. Haha! Georgia native cherries are extremely toxic to humans and other mammals, except for the fruit of just three varieties. Be wary though, the pits are also toxic. Apart from the fruit, the leaves, stems, and pits contain a chemical called prunasin, which is converted to hydrogen cyanide. This is a natural defense against herbivores. Because of this, native cherry can be used in protection charms as well as hexes where you wish to poison your target's luck or prospects. Native cherry trees are usually one of the first succesional trees to grow after a disturbance as well. They are very hardy and often considered a weed tree. Because of this, they can be used in spells for success, prosperity, and endurance. The heart-shaped red cherries can be used in love spells and rituals to attract or keep a lover. While some native cherries can be used for medicinal purposes, be wary. As mentioned most are fairly toxic and unless prepared correctly you could inadvertently poison your entire family while trying to treat their coughs! #cherry #nativecherry #plantmagick #treemagick #hedgewitch #witch #pagan #wicca #wiccan #witchesofinstagram #pagansofinstagram #tradcraft #traditionalwitchcraft #neopagan #occult #magick #magic #witchcraft #witchy #herbmagic #plantfolklore #hex #hexes #lovemagick #druid https://www.instagram.com/p/BzQfvTLHUM1/?igshid=41xaazaiop3c
