Some different little yellow wildflowers. Cape marigolds maybe, honestly I’m not sure what variety at this point. My hollyhock never blossomed but it’s still a pretty plant.

Black cohosh starting to bloom in the woods.

The first of the spring ephemerals are awake and starting their brief time above ground. Brilliant white flowers of Bloodroot, Virginia Bluebells in bud and Dutchman’s Breeches carpet the woodland floor.

Spring beauty, Claytonia virginica. Yay! Luckily someone up the street had someone her property and over the years they have sneaked out into the grass by a cemetery. 

I can’t go out to where I love to see them in the thousands but luckily someone gave me these for my birthday last year. I used to be able to walk down and see them in Black Rock woods but they’re one of the species that have disappeared from there over the years.
