Today's tribute to Makers goes out to crafters-a very important group to the Maker community! Last year at Maker Faire NYC I shared a tent with @kariskits and all day heard exclamations of joy as people discovered her kits and connected with her over knitting, crocheting, and crafting. A lot of people were at the Faire with family members who were drawn in by the science, robotics, and drones that dominate Maker Faire and they were so excited to find a fellow Maker at the Faire they could connect with! My husband and I were chatting about Maker spaces on our walk today and I thought I would share my Maker space (or studio) with all of you. I live in a one bedroom apartment with my husband Rob and outlet three cats in Queens, NY. My working space in in our front entry way in the spot that is intended to be the dining room (which is attached to the living room). My studio table is the former dining room table and I have storage tucked in around, under and near the table. My work bench is an old diner booth passed from my grandmother to my mom then onto me. The stool and bookshelf I salvaged from the trash. I keep a rotating gallery of my work on the wall so I can see the progress I have made and what I need to keep working on.
