just found out moon snails exist
I'm not too familiar with sea snails, so here's what I learned...
it looks like a melting ice cream scoop :')
...because they absorb seawater to expand their bodies, which looks like it flows almost completely out of the shell, but they can retract it all and shut the door with an operculum.
They feed on bivalves by punching holes and inserting acid, then slurping the liquified body tissues of their prey... often the result of this is the shells with tiny holes that we see at the beach...
