Some words Sunday
Thank you so much @kira-7 for the tag šš
As usual, I've been slowly writing this Persuasion AU with the Doctor and Donna, since I'm consistent/predictable. And I had another long writing opportunity sitting for hours in a hospital waiting room, like you do.
Snippet from "A Little Persuasion"
Sadly, she had only left the Jonesā home a few minutes when Martha had telephoned her mother, asking Francine for some urgent information. By the sound of it, Martha had been trapped in some sort of escape room situation and getting the answers right to some pub quiz general knowledge thing had been the means of getting out.
Francine had described to Donna, in great detail, how she had floundered getting her computer to boot up in order to search for the right answers about the Beatles bibliography. āShe didnāt bother to answer my questions about the Doctor,ā Francine bitterly commented. āAnyone would think sheās hiding something.ā
She probably is, Donna mentally agreed. Something alien and scary. Shame she hadnāt been there. It would have taken her seconds to access the information Martha needed from Francine. āHow did you cope on your own?ā
āThat nice woman from the council office was here to help give me moral support.ā
āThe who?ā Donna frowned. āWhat woman?ā
āMiss Dexter, she said she was called. Part of a new directive Harold Saxon has instigated. Havenāt you met her yet?ā
āNo,ā Donna admitted. Why would the Prime Minister care about any of this? It sounded fishy, so she cautiously asked, āWhat does she look like?ā When Francine raised an eyebrow, she added airily, āYou know, so that I can help with the Doctor monitoring stuff, if need be.ā
āLet me think,ā Francine pondered, whilst drawing up a clear mental image of the governmental visitor. āBlonde, dressed in a smart business suit. Similar age to Martha, but taller; about 5ft 10ins. Very professional manner but friendly. She even offered to record my phone call from Martha so that we could listen to it later.ā
I bet she did. āThat was nice of her,ā Donna trilled instead.
Francine briefly smiled before a grimace returned to her expression. āThe sooner I can get my daughter back the better.ā
āAnd we will get her back,ā Donna comforted her, laying a hand on Francineās forearm. āJust you wait and see.ā
