Natalie, Alex, and Dylan reunited.
I always wanted to see the 2000 Angels' cars lined up in front of the Townsend Agency like the original series cut to each episode. So...here's some fanart!
Lucy's character Alex drove a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster [W198 II]
Drew's character Dylan drove a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Indy 500 Pace Car
Cameron's character Nat drove a 2000 Ferrari 360 Modena
Cameron Diaz as Natalie Cook
For the Y2K Angels fans, want to know more about the road to the 2000 film? In 1994, Joe Eszterhas was hired to write a film script for Charlie's Angels. It was reportedly highly sexualized and gritty..."jiggle-noir". His draft was rejected because Sony wasn't looking for "Erotic Thriller Angels". In 1995, Nicholas Meyer wrote a draft that was described as a plot-driven espionage thriller, which also failed to satisfy the tone Sony was looking for. Then, in April 1998, Ed Solomon and Ryan Rowe penned a draft that started to feel more like the desired tone. Their opening sequence was largely used (aside from "James Earl Jones" jumping out of the airplane instead of "LL Cool J"). The Angels are Alex Munday, Dylan Sanders, and Natalie Thompson (later changed to Cook). The plot? Supermodel Cindy Crandall is spirited away into the rafters just as she is getting ready to walk out onto a runway in Rome...the third supermodel to be abducted this month! Dylan is on her boat hungover when two punks make their way aboard. She is alerted by her dog Leonard, and makes short change of the two thugs just before receiving a beep on her pager. It's Charlie. Natalie's pager beeps as she is winding up the high school AP chemistry class she is teaching. Alex is explaining to her beau, the REAL George Clooney, that she will be on a spa trip for awhile with her friend "Charlie". George wants to meet "her" soon. During the debrief, we learn that the other two missing models are Kate Ross and Naomi Camden (see what he's doing here). In Paris, Alex goes undercover as the new "It girl" model, while Dylan poses as a photographer and Natalie is working backstage. Alex is also abducted just before walking out onto the runway. They race to the roof to see a helicopter departing with Alex. They track the helicopter to a castle, belonging to a German fashion designer. He leads them to his family Swiss ski chalet, where the Angels recover the missing models, leading to a rush down the snow-covered mountain as unfriendly fire and an avalanche pursue them. Seeing Cindy Crandall on tv, while they just rescued her makes Natalie realize cloning may be at play. Next, they're off to the Atlas Mountains, where they bring down the laboratory and the clones of Cindy, Naomi, and Kate are taken away. As the end credits roll, we see 50 clones of the supermodels are now normalizing themselves in society...a Cindy pizza delivery driver, a Naomi handing out Hickory Farms samples, two Kates washing and buffing a car, etc. [If we go by the early 1998 casting rumors of Jenny McCarthy, Jada Pinkett, and Michelle Yeoh, Jenny would likely have been Dylan, Jada as Alex, and Michelle as Natalie]. Drew Barrymore became officially attached later in 1998. In 1999, Zak Penn and Scott Spiegel worked on drafts/revisions that leaned more into the "self-aware" action-comedy genre that eventually became the film's signature. Finally, John August rewrote "Charlie's Angels 2000" using aspects of Rowe, Solomon, Penn's drafts, and we ended up with a hit film!
