It's incredible how, despite having watched Disney for years since I was a little child, I was unaware that Jafar from Alladin had a sister named Nasira until Twisted Wonderland debuted Najma Viper, who is based on Jafar's sister Nasira and who only appeared in a tie-in video game for Aladdin.
Having said that, I recently learned that there is another unknown character(and yes, he is also from Alladin.) His name is Mozenrath, and he is a major enemy in the Disney animated television series Aladdin. He is constantly followed by Xerxes, his pet eel. You read correctly he owns a freaking pet eel! I repeat a pet eel! What's up with Disney and eels? 😭
In any case, he is a necromancer and evil young sorcerer. He is thought to be either Aladdin's older half-brother, but is also suggested that he is Jafar's illegitimate son.
Ok, and now to the reason why I'm bringing this up; I hope that MAYBE twisted wonderland might introduce a character inspired by him (with his pet eel cuz we need another chaotic eel)
AND i hope they introduce other obscure characters from other Disney movies. Another example would be Morgana from the little mermaid 2 (even if azul stated to be an only child) I wanna cryyyyy 😭
Well, I wouldn't expect anyone to have an encyclopedic knowledge of every uncommonly known Disney character that has ever existed. Disney has had tons of obscure spin-off games and long-forgotten TV shows (many of which came out before any of us were born), and today they own more content than ever. It's going to be pretty difficult to know about everything.
Najma's existence has led to many Twsties learning about her probable origins in the 2000 game Nasira's Revenge. I doubt very many of us would have known about Nasira, had Najma not been a thing. The same goes for the various characters that appeared in other smaller projects. I think they made a ton of TV shows based on popular films, including shows for The Little Mermaid, Hercules, etc. Even more recently, we have had similar spin-off TV shows, like The Lion Guard and Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. There's no shortage of content that Twst could pull narrative, cultural, or character ideas from.
Aladdin has had its own TV show and movie sequels, so there's a lot of fertile ground there. Not sure if I'd call them unknown compared to the game mentioned earlier (I feel like more people must have seen the show and sequels); older Twsties might recognize Mozenrath and Xerxes from their childhoods.
awbhjdqevyrvqeipi TO BE FAIR, have you seen eels irl... They aren't exactly cuddly looking, especially when their mouths are open, and have an unsavory reputation as opportunistic hunters. I could easily imagine them as "bad guys" in kids' cartoons. How the hell does this eel survive on land though
Twst has proven they're willing to borrow ideas from outside the most popular and iconic of Disney films, so it's not impossible for the older TV shows to be looked at. Not sure if we'll get a whole other major character or two based on a lesser known production, but it would still be fun to see.
I would consider Morgana much less obscure than Nasira, Mozenrath, and Xerxes. I've seen no less than 3 different Twst OCs based on her, so I think Morgana particularly sticks out in people's memories.
Azul doesn't seem to have any siblings though, so if we did get a Morgana character then it may not be a younger sibling of his like Morgana was to Ursula. Unless... maybe his biological father went off and started another family of his own? 🤔
🦊: {Knock-knock} Jaffy, it's me. You asked me to bring the books from the table, I can still go into the kitchen-
🦊: I don't understand, did he shaved or something... that's not bad either, but...
🔮: Jafar, please come here for a minute. Evening delivery.
🔮: Jafar, what is this?
🐍: ... Books
🔮: I can see that, but it's not about them. "Jaffy"?
🦊: ... I uh... Will leave it here, okay? I need to go
🔮: No, you're NOT going anywhere young lady
🐍: NASIRA! May I ask you to reschedule this conversation for another time? I was planning on relaxing.
🦊: It was the most awkward meeting of my life... That day he decided to show me some of his personal photos... Twin sister! Why did I never ask?! I only know what he wanted to tell me I guess...
🦊: Jafar told me almost nothing about his family... Maybe Nasira will tell me? oouuhhwww how adorable!!!... It's hard to believe that he himself was once a child.

It's hard to think a lot about Jafar and his life without wondering what his twin sister was also like so... if Disney won't pretend she exists, I will.
------ Youth
She's 7 minutes older than Jafar and spent most of their youth lording that fact over her brother.
Originally, Nasira became competitive with Jafar to fight for their father's attention (He favored Jafar for being male). Even when their father started becoming more of an absent drunk and lost faith that Jafar would ever be masculine, the two still kept trying to one-up each other constantly, although it was now more of a game than anything.
She's the one to encourage Jafar to focus on studying instead of trying to get big and strong like their father wanted him to be.
Her father never wanted Nasira to have an education and to only learn how to do household things like her mother but Jafar taught Nasira his school lessons after bedtime.
Jafar's eventual obsession with studying magic lead to Nasira discovering she had innate magic abilities. Jafar was extremely jealous of her abilities but pride made him just double his efforts into gaining magic for himself.
------ Adulthood
While Jafar stayed in their home city of Agrabah to focus on getting hired by the Sultan, Nasira moved to Getzistan in her early 20s to use her magic to make her own fortune.
After a short stint as a street fortune teller, her abilities earned her a place as a show magician in Getzistan's world famous floor shows where she was eventually discovered and hired by the city's sultan.
Although originally hired as a palace performer, Nasira leapt up in the Sultan's favor after she used her magic to scry the location of a rare herb needed to save one of the Sultan's wives from illness. Afterwards, the Sultan promoted her as his Grand Seer.
By the time of the first movie, Nasira is a deeply trusted, ingrained part of the Sultan's inner circle with almost every political decision the Sultan makes needing a reading from Nasira personally before he settles on a path forwards.
Unlike her brother, Nasira is quite happy simply being an advisor to the Sultan, believing that the mundane requirements of running the country, like figure out economics and entertaining diplomats, are beneath her.
She only found out about her brother's death when she arrived to the Agrabah palace on her/Jafar's birthday to celebrate with him, as was their tradition, and was turned away; only being told that Jafar was a traitor that had been put to death and no kin of his would be allowed on the palace grounds. She was truly devastated and inconsolable for days after.
Nasira's disinterest in being a ruler extends to the game Nasira's Revenge. In the game, she only overthrows the throne of Agrabah to spur Aladdin into action for her plans. She would happily hand the country over to her brother and even advise the sultan of Getzistan to ally with Jafar to further legitimize Jafar's rule.
------ Misc
She has a female blue macaw named Delilah who is a casual friend with Iago. When Jafar and Nasira meet, the two birds spend most of the day gossiping.
For the brief time the siblings weren't on speaking terms after an argument about Nasira's prophesies never predicting anything good for Jafar, it was Iago and Delilah that schemed together to get the siblings talking again.
While Iago is loud, crass and rambling, Delilah is unnaturally quiet for her species, due to Nasira training her to be a spy around the palace. She speaks very succinctly and respectfully towards Nasira but is almost exclusively sarcastic and catty towards others.
Jafar's constant search for magic is why Nasira ends up so powerful. Whenever he finds something he couldn't use himself, he copied it and passed it to his sister.
Nasira doesn't smoke anything because the smell make her stomach churn but being in Getzistan for 30+ years has lead to her being able to drink almost anyone in Agrabah under the table if she wants to.
It's really a shame that Nasira never shows up in anything. There's so much potential for her. Jafar is a character basically defined by crazed ambition and betrayal. Why wouldn't you want to explore the one person Jafar is loyal to?
