wanted to talk about a concept I thought up awhile ago
so throughout naruto shippuden , obito has two main ? disguises ; Tobi and Madara
basically my whole thing was , imagine that these fake faces he puts on become a permanent part of his personality , as in even after the war and everything is over ( because I suppose this is an au where he doesn 't fucking perish into dust during that fight against kaguya ) he still slips into that tobi personality or that madara impression every so often , usually without even realizing it
I mean after naruto broke his mask and some other shit happened ( it 's been awhile since I watched shippuden so I forgot some of the stuff that happened during the 4th war ) he had a moment where he was like "who even am i for real" and there 's like an identity crisis type beat going on w him
maybe certain things or interacting with certain people could cause that switch to flip and suddenly you 're dealing with madara and not obito uchiha . . idk I hope yall get what I mean ?? i 'm desdass on this post running my mouth
but yeah to sum it up this is basically me saying "what if tobi and madara just became something like alternate personalities to obito due to him impersonating them for so long" even though tobi basically is a split personality type thing , because he kinda reminds me of guruguru ?? the white zetsu that obito first met after he like "died" as a kid and grandpa madara saved him yadda yadda , but I also figured "tobi" was more so an exaggerated version of how obito actually was as a kid , something along those lines
if yall wanna add onto this yap session or have any ideas on how to make it make more sense I would absolutely love to hear it

After that cute little session that day at his house, you make a habit of inviting him when exams come around.
Of course school is not the only thing on your mind.
“We’re..”
Tobirama swallowed.
“We’re supposed to be studying…”
He reasons.
After all, that's what you invited him over for. However, When it became clear that was not your intention, he found himself trying to avoid eye contact as you smiled at him from your place on the bed.
“You really need to get better at catching hints, Senju-san.”
He turned to retaliate, you leaned in capturing his lips in a kiss and, he forgot completely what the statement was about. This had become a normal thing. You took every opportunity to pounce on him, and truthfully, he couldn’t really complain. It was strange, he never really realized how much he craved this kind of physical contact until you were constantly showering him with affection.
Maybe it wasn’t so much the contact, but the person. Whenever Hashirama tried to hug him it always resulted in said older brother getting punched in the face, or other body parts. Even with other people, it was always a bit..weird. It’s possible that for him, it was just the trust, that comfort he felt with someone that determined whether or not he was comfortable.
He could say for a fact that anytime you attacked him like this, he liked it.
Not that he could ever say that to your face.
You pulled back, and he licked his lips, watching the little smile on your face.
“Do you want me to stop Senju-san~”
He knew you were teasing, he could just brush it off, but he really wanted another kiss.
“No..I..I don’t want you to..”
He looked away and you squealed, wrapping your arms around his neck as you smothered his face with kisses.
Yes, his life had definitely changed.
It was great.
Your relationship was amazing.
That’s why you’d decided to surprise him at his school. He sometimes came to pick you up at Konoha, so you figured he would appreciate the gesture.
Humming, you walked down the street with an extra pep in your step.
“S-Senju-sensei!”
The call of a student catches your attention, and you slow down. You haven’t broken the corner yet, and you really should, but it feels like you’re about to interrupt something important.
“S-Senju-sensei, I-I really like you so please consider my feelings.”
You could hear the nervousness in the girl’s voice. You knew you had nothing to worry about. Tobirama is a man of character. Yet, the tug in your chest, it was hard to get rid of.
“I appreciate your bravery, but there is already someone who is important to me.”
That was exactly the type of response you expected from him.
“She’s from your old school isn’t she. A student just like me. I-If I had confessed first, would you have still chosen her!”
She sounded a bit frantic, and the accusation had your stomach in knots.
“I apologize.”
That was all he said as he walked away. You should have approached him, ran to his side and praised him for answering so honestly and considerately even though he had to reject her, but you couldn’t get your feet to move, to chase after him. Your head just lowered, and you hid until you were certain he was out of your view.
It was pathetic.
After that, it was hard to get her words out of your mind. You did your best to pretend that you were unaffected. Planting the best smile on your face. Maybe it would have worked if Tobirama didn’t know you so well.
“Is there something wrong (Y/N)-san.”
You’d only manage to get through the door before he noticed.
“Guess it’s no good after all.”
You should have known better.
“It’s nothing really.”
You didn’t want to talk about it, and thankfully, he didn’t push. The both of you had just gone to your room to get started on studying.
He wasn’t a fool, he knew there was something wrong. For one, you hadn’t so much as hugged him today. Usually you couldn’t go five minutes without some form of affection. Your eyes were completely focused on your book. He would have brushed it off if your eyes didn’t look so lonely.
Right then he decided that the situation needed to be addressed.
“(Y/N)-sa-”
“Would you have accepted it if someone else had confessed to you before I did?”
The question confused him.
“I don’t understand.”
You turned to him, and the way your eyes welled up with tears, it made his chest hurt to see you so pained.
“Did..did you only accept my confession because I was the first girl to say those words to you..”
You hate that you’re making him seem like a bad guy. He doesn’t truly owe you an explanation, he’s done nothing wrong, but you can’t help but wonder if it had been someone else that day, would he have just accepted it.
Those words, those feelings.
He realized now exactly what you were asking, and it dawned on him that you must have heard the conversation at the gate.
His gaze steadied. The only way to quell your fears right now was to be honest.
“From the very start, it was only ever going to be you.”
His words were a shock. Tobirama looked so sure as he spoke. From your expression, it’s clear that he needed to explain it.
Everything.
“When we were younger, we were close.”
You could see the regret written on his face.
“You were always at my side. You were maybe six. At the time I was only ten, and Madara and Hashirama were as loyal friends as they are now. Everyday you saw me, you would smile, even though I never returned them. I was unapproachable. I couldn’t get close to others as easily as my brother did. Everyone else was scared of me, and you were scared of everything, except for me.”
Your eyes are a bit wide at the recollection.
“For a while it was fine, but the bad blood between our families, it made the elders cold, cruel. My father was unwilling to accept Madara and Hashirama’s friendship and it resulted in constant arguments within my family. They would fight constantly, and I tried to intervene, to bring peace but nothing helped. “
His hand tightened in his lap.
“After a while, I resented your family, because it was the main cause of conflict within mine.”
Your eyes shook, heart twisting at the revelation.
“Hashirama never backed down, and eventually we all grew up. My father couldn’t control him, so it became a thing of the past, but I’d already put a great distance between you and a lot of members in your family. Regardless of how I felt, you were always around because of my brother, so I trained myself to ignore it. Ignore you. I thought nothing good would come of it. Then I saw you in the park and it made me angry. I told myself that it wasn’t my problem, but the second that boy tried to lay his hand on you, I wanted to make him eat his fist.”
Tobirama still isn’t looking at you, and you’re not sure what to say, how to feel.
“When you asked me to help you with your studying, there was a part of me that was relieved. I was certain that despite how cruel I’d been to you, maybe there was a part of you that didn’t completely detest me. For a while it was alright, but when you started sneaking around, I assumed the worst. In my head, it had to be something bad if you were unable to confront me with the problem. When I apprehended you, I supposed I just wanted there to be a reason for me to distance myself again because then maybe it wouldn’t kill me inside. But the entire time you’d just been…”
His hands were trembling.
When he looks up, his tears shock you.
“You’d just cared for me and I’d almost lost that too..”
He sounds a bit broken and you can’t help yourself, you hug him.
“If I somehow jeopardize this, please promise me that you will..you will still be here..”
He sounds so broken, and you nod.
“I will. I’ll always be here, no matter what. I promise.”
You realize now that past conflict and hate is what debilitated Tobirama. His father’s shortsighted views is the reason for some of his past mistakes. It’s a harsh reality. You can’t change what happened in the past, but you can ensure a better future. Because you want one with him.
“I love you, Tobirama.”
Your words make him stiff for a moment. Slowly but surely, his hold tightens against your body, and you smile to yourself. It will take a while for him to work up the courage to say those words. You understand that. Right now, just having him close, it’s all that you need.
The both of you will be okay.
You just know it.
~Extra~
“(Y/N)-san..”
Tobirama sounds a bit bashful and just continues to hug him as you both lay on the bed. He’s grateful that you’re back to your old self.
“Hai! Senju-san.”
You’re smiling widely and he sighs softly.
“You shouldn’t be so carefree.”
“What do you mean, I know I have nothing to worry about. It’s you after all Senju-san.”
Somehow the comment feels like a jab to his ego. You squeak when he raises, pinning both your arms to the bed. He’s now hovering over you, red eyes serious. Your cheeks flush at his expression.
“(Y/N)-san, you should be on your guard. I am a man after all.”
It doesn’t take a genius to decipher those words.
“K-KYA!! YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO MY BODY SENJU-SAN!!”
You’re now rolling back and forth, holding your cheeks as you blush and he sweat drops.
It’s clear that you have zero survival instincts, at least when it comes to him.
