I didn't make a post because I'm [sadly 😭] bouncing around, BUT
It's been 7 good years since my big chop (maybe I'll stop counting after 10 🤔). We needed a new blow-dryer and flatiron for the house anyway, so we tested them on my hair. It was also practice cuz my mum never did a silk press and I didn't need my roots bone straight either; my styling advantage was in the volume.
The blowout
The press
We cut off my ends that didn't get properly cut the last time my hair was straightened and I found that the very back and bottom was WAY longer than everything else. I mean by good 3-5 inches. The hypothesis ranges from that section of hair growing very fast and misjudgement in shaping when my hair is textured (4 different textures and shrinking differently).
My mum is scissor scary 😂 but I had her take it out. Mind you, my hair never got this long when it was permed. So she was like "Are you sure?" despite the fact that I went from 12" to 1" real fast. And as you can see in the second row of the pics right above, I took off a good amount in the other sections of my hair cuz you could see and feel that the ends didn't understand the assignment. It worked out well.
And within the week I was at the beach 😚🤣 I also think I'm enjoying this length. I'm at a point where I can still throw my hair up and out my eyes to adapt for school/work more quickly while also getting to try out more hairstyles. Three cheers for hair management and many more years of healthier hair!
Bonus: little date look I pulled from multiple styles
