#naming characters

I was wondering if anyone could help me think of a name for an OC I’ve recently drawn up for a story I plan to write.

Here’s my OC:

So for a bit of context:

She’s a student paramedic in a world where everyone has powers of some sort.

Her powers are force field generation and cybernetic enhancements

She has a spirit guardian/pet phantom king cobra

She’s still getting into the swing of the EMS profession (I am a student paramedic myself but I wanted to put a twist on the EMS profession through the lens of a world with so many different powers)

HOW DO YOU COME UP NEW NAME IDEA? ARE NAME FROM SOME WHERE OR YOU MADE UP NAME? AND I LOVE YOUR REDESIGN 🩷🩷🩷

The names I use are usually ancient in origin and often stem from Hebrew, Arabic, Latin, and Yiddish. In regards to Sanctum Malorum and the Nobles of I.M.P, they're quite old and stick to older naming traditions.

When I began renaming characters for Sanctum Malorum, I tried to find names that start with the same letters as their Hazbin counterparts(though this was abandoned when I started working on I.M.P).

Examples:

Charlie->Chavatzelet

Vaggie->Valquíria

Alastor->Antheline

Zestial->Zahava

If I can't find a name that matches, then I'll look for a name that fits the character thematically.

Valquíria means valkyrie.

Saorlaith means free princess.

Ofri means little deer.

final design vs concept!

Sommai Sisavath, masculine. Nickname Khai in Khai Paen which is a riverweed.

Chantana Chanthavong, feminine. Nickname Chani. A certain Japanese character will call her "Ni-chan".

Keo Kul, gender neutral. Nickname Kiki. The Vietnamese told Keo that's a common dog name in Viet Nam so they go by Keo now. But there's also a new problem that people pronounce it as "Kee-Oh" 😮‍💨

Hello to you too. I'm glad you think so, especially because naming my characters is something I used to struggle with quite a bit.

Most of the names (such as Linra) are just put together from the common sounds I came up with while figuring out the writing system, which has helped me immensely because I always struggled to come up with names quickly before that- though the development is also a bit of a loop because the names I already had (such as Canna, Jiri, Norin and Xiloscantun (fancy long name for a fancy person, that one)) were what I picked the sounds for the writing system from. Those were just from speaking sounds out loud and figuring out what went well together.

Some of the noble characters are exceptions and have late Roman inspired names (such as Severin, which is derived from Severinus) which I found in behindthename.com. With those I also tried to look at the personalities of the parents and went “what would they name a child?”
