I fucking hate it when I occasionally see my irl name in some random ass place (I have a semi-uncommon name) and my soul leaves my body for a second.

i would just LOVE it if people called me sylvester/vester more often 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀i SAID i would love it.... 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
When I came out to my mom earlier this month, she asked what name I wanted to go by.
I wasn’t comfortable telling her about Misha as my name choice yet…I impulsively came out (long story, but I could have been outed locally if she worked a certain event — so I decided it was best for me to tell her myself).
So I told her that I had picked out Elliot as my middle name and that I was sure on that. I told her I was thinking of first names and would let her know when I was ready to tell her.
Anyway, I think I just figured out what to do name wise. I can keep Misha and use it as a nickname that I largely go by. But I can make my full/legal name Michael when I change it. And I can tell my mom what my choice is but to use the nickname for me whenever possible.
Honestly, she wanted to name me Michaela (idk what spelling she wanted), but she ended up picking a totally different name for me when I showed up into the world due to family members being weird.
Misha is a nickname of Michael. But for me it obviously has other importance to me with Misha Collins and SPN.
So Michael feels like a really natural choice. I don’t hate it either. I just know I prefer Misha over Mike as a nickname lmao.
Old birth registries from the 1800s be like

Like girl where did you come from???
What your names sound/look like to me
Idfk man. Yeah. Btw none of this is bad, even if it sounds like it.
@knickknat - Knat: You're first because yeah. Your name comes like a snap. It's not exactly pointy, but if it were a weapon it could do some damage. Like uhh throwin a brick at someone.
@poetaster-crow and @jaykaythe1st - Jay: Woahh two Jays. Anyway y'alls name is like splashing (not stepping, splashing) in a puddle. This puddle ain't clear, it's a bit murky, but what puddle isn't? The name's a bit twisty, but not exactly like a spring, more like a wave kinda.
@what-the-actualhell - Zero: Hold on there buckaroo, that name got some WHIMSY to it. It's prolly just cuz these both start with Z, but it's got a zing to it. Very fast and wobbly. Like people fighting in a cartoon. I could see it being spring-like.
I give up. This is all I'm doing for now. Comment if you want me to make another post with your name in it.

name list: artiodactyla!
aka names that mean any of the following and more: camels, sheep, goats, deer, bison, giraffes, pigs, antelopes, hippos, and whales...but not horses, actually, which is good because the number of names meaning horse deserves its own list. these are the even-toed ungulates, and the variety of names we have that directly related to them just really show how significant human-ungulate interaction and domestication has been!
but anyway, enough of that...onto the names! source is behind the name, not user-submitted.

“river”
been thinking about names and True Names (™️ to ursula k le guin) and transness.
to cis people, i look cis. i have a full beard and mustache, flat chest, short hair, and dress masculinely. the Trans Tell is that i’m 5’1 and have 15 facial piercings—so some trans people can clock me and be like hey that’s another trans person, but to most of the world, i just look like a cis guy. a queer cis guy, maybe, but a man.
this is weird to me. i’ve only had a beard for 6 months. before that, people did gender me as male when i spoke (i have a deep voice), but were often confused about my gender and tactfully avoided gendering me at all.
i never really thought i’d be pass as a cis man. i wanted it for a long, long time, but i had sort of come to accept that people would always be confused as to my gender. but then i grew the beard and bam! cis man vibes.
with that sureness that people are gendering me as a Man (which i am not, i am 100% nonbinary), i’ve wanted to express androgyny more. i’m growing my hair out, which i’ve wanted to do for a while. i want my hair to be shoulder length or longer.
and with that desire for androgyny i’ve been thinking about my name. ozzie, my name, is short for oscar, a very male name. i picked ozzie because i liked the way it sounded and my birth name also started with o. however, recently, ozzie has been sounding a little too masculine to my ears.
i don’t want to go through the hassle of changing my name to the whole world again, so i’ve been going slowly, just changing my display name on some social media and telling my partner about this.
i looked through a lot of nature names for a while as that’s what i felt drawn to. nature names have always felt androgynous to me (and often are perceived as such in the world). nature is something that is incredibly important to me as has been since i was a child. and i talked about it with my fiancé and figured out that what draws me to “river” is that it contains so much of what i love. other names i considered—moss, lichen, heron, finch, sparrow, fen, all of those can be found in a river! whole ecosystem! some of my fondest childhood memories involve hiking in bear mountain and following the rivers.
anyway, long story short to say that my display name on here is different now and maybe i’ll phase that into real life, maybe not!
