You’ve been in the Bloomic server for a good amount of time now. Honestly, you couldn't even remember when you joined. What you do remember is most of the members' voices. Every member except for the famous NakedToaster.

It’s not that you avoided being in calls with them, it’s just that you both always missed each other. Which was funny considering that you basically texted each other the most in the entire server.

Hell, your private channel with him was labelled “lovers-quarrel”, a channel originally used between nightowl and onionthief, but now with both of them kicked from it it was just you and Toast. And now you’ve just been using it to text each other when you could, while in work, while in game, or even just in free time.

Now that you think about it, how have you not heard his voice yet?

Let’s backtrack.. Okay, so you both have DEFINITELY tried to get in a voice call before. At some point.

You think.

Now that you think about it it’s never really come up in conversation, even as you guys played together. It’s not like you minded though, you liked Toast for their personality. Their voice wasn’t going to change that.

You leaned back in your gaming chair, staring at the clock. It was almost 1 am, which means that Toasty should be on about now. However, you failed to see any messages come through in your shared channel. It should be fine, I mean who’s on time for anything these days?

Then 45 minutes passed.

Now you were a bit worried, so you shot a text into the channel.

> You: You didn’t die on me, did you?

And then you waited, laying your head in your arms on your desk as you stared at your monitor for an answer. Which lasted about 2 minutes before you texted again.

> You: Toast?

> You: Toasty?

> You: Are you on Terreriam without me

Maybe the constant messages finally got his attention, because they actually did respond after that.

> NakedToaster: No, I’m not on Terreriam.

> NakedToaster: Middle of a raid, srry.

> NakedToaster: Forgot to txt u b4 it started.

> You: Lolol it’s fine, we’re normally texting/gaming by now so i thought smth happened to u idk

> You: Wow I sound like a mod

> NakedToaster: Don’t compare yourself to such a low standard LMFAO

> You: I’m gonna tell Quest you said thatmLMFAO

> NakedToaster: You realize that I’m also a mod right?

> NakedToaster: Server owner even

> NakedToaster: I have free reign over this kingdom

> You: Yes, yes. Of course your majesty. I wont utter a word to your high liege Quest

> NakedToaster: Yes, good.

> NakedToaster: This raid is going on longer than I thought it wld, vc?

Your heart thumped in surprise. That’s new.

> You: I mean if you want to we can

> NakedToaster: Oh- OH!

You vaguely remember now why you and Toast never voice chatted. It was a conversation with Xyx, where you both had mentioned voice chatting. Toast was busy, but not only were they busy, they were also very, very shy. You never pushed, but..

Okay, don’t panic, this is just your first time ever hearing their voice. Shouldn’t be nerve wracking at all, right?

If they’re offering to call, that means he trusts you, right?

> You: I know that ur not rlly a vc type

> NakedToaster: No it’s fine, I mean

> NakedToaster: I’m the one offering aren’t I?

> NakedToaster: I know that we hvnt called b4 but ik uve seen my face so thats nt what im wrrid abt

> You: U scared im gonna call ur voice nerdy or smth? lol

> NakedToaster: Maybe. Yes.

> NakedToaster: Js get in call b4 I die bc im multitsking txting u

> You: LOLOL okay okay

You hesitated a bit, looking at the voice channel. Okay. Calm down. You like Toast, like.. REALLY like them. You love texting them, gaming with them, or just spending time with them. This call might change things.. Probably not. But you know it’ll get SO much worse if you find his voice attractive.

Okay. It’s fine.

The cursor hovered over the voice channel containing Toast’s username, the profile picture practically mocking you.

Why are you being so weird about this? It’s just a call. It’s no biggie. So, you joined the voice chat.

“-an anyone in this team heal correctly?”

You heard him mumble. Huh. It looks like they haven’t noticed you join call yet.

“I wonder if they’ve joined call yet.. Oh. Hi. Um.” He mumbled out again as he checked the other monitor, which looked to be on the server. You watched as his eyes widened slightly, his eyes flickered from one monitor to his camera.

“Hey Toast, don’t let my good looks distract you from the game.” You chuckled into your mic, watching them fumble with their keyboard.

“You joined so quietly, you shocked me.” He stated, keeping his eyes on the monitor with the game. If you squinted, you could see a light blush on his cheeks from your screen.

“Haha~ Sorry!” You smiled as you leaned back in your chair. “I was dealing with some things before I joined vc.” And by things you mean yourself. And your stupid little feelings.

“Hm? Like what?” He asked, glancing at the camera. “You know, you could have said no if you were that hesitant on joining call-“

“NO IT WASN’T LIKE THAT.” You yelled frantically, slamming your hands on your desk. “I was just- you know- I was nervous! Because like- I dunno- I-“

You took a deep breath in.

“I was just nervous, you know, since it was our first time calling and..” You paused. “I like you a lot so if you had a nice voice it’d make it worse for me..”

You really banked on your mic not picking that up.

“Oh. Uh..” Toast cleared his throat, “Well.. Do you like my voice..?”

Oh. You weren’t expecting that.

“Definitely.” You responded immediately. Your face burned red as you slowly turned to the camera.

Toast also craned his head towards their webcam, their whole face pink from realizing what you had said. You had your hand over your mouth, as if you weren’t the one who just called their voice attractive.

Well.

You didn’t say it outright, but you knew damn well Toast isn’t dense to the point of not knowing what you meant.

”SO LIKE HAHA. I THINK THAT MY FISH IS BARKING AT THE DOOR I’M GONNA BE RIGHT BACK-“

“Wait!- Stay.” Toast said quickly, just as your cursor hovered over the leave button. You avoided looking at your monitor, knowing that if you showed more of your face, it’d just reveal how red you were.

”What’s up?” Your voice creaked out. “I am like totallyyyy.. Not going to disappear forever.”

“Well um.” Toast coughed from his end. “You just. You said that you liked my voice so. I just thought that…”

You found yourself looking back up at the monitor, only to see Toast’s red face on the screen. His eyes fully focused on the webcam rather than on his game.

“Since you like my voice.. By, I guess a lot. You should stay. And.. Listen some more.”

”Is this your way of saying that you’re okay with me finding your voice attractive?”

“When you say it out loud like that, it’s embarrassing.” They huffed. “But yes, that is what I’m saying.”

“Okay good, cause- I thought it might be awkward and-“

“If anything, I’m glad that you like my voice a lot.”

”… You are?”

“.. Yeah.”

”So.. You’re saying—“

Then you heard the join notification.

”FOCUS ON THE GAME TOAST.” Xyx’s voice peaked through the mic.

“Oh- SHIT sorry- I’m here, I’m here—“

”As much as I love you finally getting some,”

”What.”

”Get your ass in GEAR. NOOWWWW”

And Xyx is gone.

You looked at Toast’s shocked red face, and laughed.

“And what are you laughing at?”

“Nothing, nothing! Just how funny that was.” You wheezed out as you fanned your face.

“Oh really, because I swore we were just talking about how funny my voice-“
