Thats basically all the pairings that I’ve seen of makoto that I remembered of I even ship some of them but I’m not telling 👀

I'm mostly curious about how some soulmate mechanics work with other like how Makoto writing "stop being mean to your sister" when junko is watching causes her to carve his name on mukuro but because naekusaba exchange pain now Makoto has his own name carve in him

And how Kyoko is probably getting the occasional nightmare from Makoto having to see all the things junko gets up to

I once read a soulmate fic where the mechanic was "you find your soulmate's lost things" the soulmate was an android so the pov character didn't realize until after meeting because they finally found a bow that was identifiable

So which ship kind of vibes with this mechanic? And also more interesting interactions between the different soulmate types pls

To your first point, if it's happening in the universe where every soulmate AU is true at once, then she would probably carve her own name instead, lol. So, he has Junko's name scarring him, while Mukuro is the one who was actually injured.

As for the Lost Things version, I could first of all see it being just the default for all of them. Basically, it would take the place of the School Store. Instead of getting a bunch of random gifts and giving them out to people, he finds their lost things and returns them to them. They don't even tell him which things are theirs; he just intuitively figures it out based on vibes.

Of course this is Byakuya's teddy bear (from when he was four years old that he lost on a plane once and that was how he learned that it's weak to get attached to things). Of course this is Celeste's cozy hoodie (that she left behind at a train station on purpose one day when she decided hoodies were no longer her aesthetic).

As the previous paragraph kind of implies, this AU works best for kind of repressed characters, because it allows him to directly access their sensitive side in a way that demonstrates a fundamental understanding of them. So, Byakuya, Celeste, Kyoko, Mondo. Those types.

Basically, a lot of, "Hey, I found this a while back. Do you want it?" while holding a Littlest Pet Shop-style puppy dog keychain that Mondo threw away because he thought it made him look weak.
