The party was on, out by the seashore. Crazy hats, glittery clothes. The night had fallen, the people only visible through the colourful lights and lanterns.
It could have been the perfect movie. If it wasnât for her.
I had noticed her flaming hair as I entered the white see-through tent. Plastic all the way.
I had noticed her as she danced. Charming her way up, swinging around laughing couples. Smile, wink wink.
She spilled the drinks, stepped on their toes.
I let her close, moving wildly to the music.
Ignored as she spilled my drink, stepped on my toe.
Laughed as she tightened her grip around my waist.
Watched her smear her lipstick around my face.
Our bodies entwined, I forgot what was mine.
She pushed me forwards, into the blue.
Before I knew, the waves had enticed me.
I screamed for help, but the salty water had already filled my lungs.
Was her back, scouting for someone new.
