Thoughts about those weird het marriage custom things
You know, where the groom is ruining his life, and giving up everything and poor him being dragged to the altar? That kind of shit?
Hereâs what I donât get. Where the fuck is he getting off complaining about that at all? Shouldnât the woman be the one all wait, wtf? Where am I coming from?
Even now, in this supposedly enlightened age, women still take on the majority of the household work. Theyâre expected to work, have kids, be the primary caregiver for the kids while the dad âbabysitsâ sometimes. Equality in sharing chores is seen as like 80/20. Men have man caves and menâs nights and women are supposed to be delighted with a clean house and making a full home cooked meal after working 40 hours. Itâs still assumed a woman will be sexually available whenever her husband wants, and if sheâs not sheâs cold and a prude who is a shrew holding out to get him to do her work around the house.
Why are men complaining and pretending like marriage is ruining their lives and trapping them when theyâre gaining everything back that they expected/assumed their moms would do for years.
Woman are the one that society is shackling with the expectation of being parent, maid, housekeeper, cook, chauffeur, sexual toy, hostess... the list goes on and on, and yet men are the ones that play these games when they get married with poor children not old enough to read carrying signs that say âlast chance to run, here she comesâ, and whining about their freedom being taken and how theyâre now shackled to a woman who society will damn for not being all of the above plus some while he hides in his man cave.Â
WTF is just wrong with people?
And yes, I know. Not all men blah blah blah. This is about the societal expectations, and the image heterosexual couples present through these types of âsillyâ displays that are really demeaning and degrading to woman, and itâs images their nieces and daughters and cousins see that tell them itâs okay and cute to be degrade by a man so long as he says i love you. We should want more than that for ourselves, for men, for the next generations. This is just still so damn prevalent and itâs gross.
