i do not think anyone gets Summertime by MCR the way I get Summertime by MCR.
I listened to this album in full again yesterday and it is definitely, DEFINITELY my second favorite album released in 2024.
I don't remember if I liked this song immediately after it was released as a single, but it has absolutely grown on me and now it's probably my second favorite song on the album (after "Bye-Bye!" of course). I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove the responding parenthetical vocals of "Everyone's happy (Oh! So it seems)/Everyone's watchin' (Oh! So it seems)" and then the rest of the song, especially where "Pretend to be, protect me" start to sound like each other after hearing "Pretend to be" 10 times. I can't even describe yet how genius that is, but it sure seems to be.
I just LOVE this album and love this band so much.
