I must educate you people, Civ is my favorite board game and ice also never finished a single game but have played for right consecutive hours and only made it to the late bronze age. Basically you take control of a country and try to a) not die and b) actually progress technologically. Depending on the number of cities you have and can support, you get those little cards you are there which are each about the size of a two year old child's foot. The numbers on the outline of the cards are basically your currency, if you have one salt, one grain, and one gold, then all you have is 16 currency points, but if you have three salt, that makes 27 currency points on its own (which is why I liked collecting salt, three cities is easy to support) so collecting multiple of one kind of card is a good idea. Now worth the "currency points" you can buy Civ cards (not pictured) which give you technology to progress on the chronological chart as well as certain benefits. Things like pottery give you a higher immunity to famine if you have some grain in your hand, cloth making let's your ships move faster, diplomacy decreases risk of civil war, etc. Basically I'm just trying to say this game was awesome and I'm so ducking upset they don't make it anymore
