Before I go to bed, I saw the LC post you reblogged and have a theory as to why the Old Birds make baby crying noises and why they are called brainwashingsignal: Babies cry specifically so people will come help them. On an evolutionary standpoint it's basically human nature to be aware of distressed children. So what if the original purpose was specifically to lure people out of hiding, but overtime it just became a base sound they make senselessly since there aren't any "targets" left to lure?
PERHAPS.. I do enjoy the theory that the Old Birds record sounds and play them back, and as weapons of war . yeahg. a sound to evoke fear and disturb the people it's hunting down. strange things, I like them
