Iya. Aku harus apa?

Katamu kita bisa berteman saja kan.

Karena masih ada PR yang harus kau kerjakan dan berjangka.

Tenang tuan, aku pun punya PR yang sama barangkali.

Walau mungkin sepertinya tak seberat dirimu.

Saat status itu bermunculan di hadapanku, aku menatap ulang lalu tersenyum.

Lalu aku harus apa?

Support terus menerus kah?

entah itu akan menjadikanmu semangat atau malah mengusikmu ?

Kau sepertinya tak perlu tahu tentang yang satu ini.

Mendoakanmu, mengistikhorohkanmu sudah menjadi hal yang baik untuk kebaikan kita dimasa depan, walau tak bersama.

Agar tahu akhir yang baik dan barokah seperti apa.

Dating Apps and the lack of CHAT

 I’m sure we have all been there in this search for a spouse, the moment you are close to giving up on apps. One main reason is: DEAD CONVERSATION.

No, it’s not the fact that everyone’s profile seems to read gym, tick, coffee, tick, looking for a travel buddy, tick. Or, the glossy baby oiled pictures from the gym. Us women aren’t left out oh no, brothers are crying out about profiles that reek of Hijabi glam! Sisters contoured to the hilt, profiles full of demands pretty much like little modern day ‘Muslim Princesses’.

It’s the lack of conversation, once you find a profile you like. As if swiping right and left wasn’t tiring enough, you begin to feel you’ve reached a brick wall you are this close to deleting the app, until you get a MATCH!

 Again, you exchange small talk, initial chit-chat and pleasantries. Tick Tock Tick Tock

You try to keep up jokes, and banter Tick Tock Tick Tock

You keep asking questions and giving details… AND GONE.

 The conversation dwindles into thin air, the back and forth of how was your day, what are you doing, has ceased.

All of a sudden you realise, you were doing all the talk ‘they’ only went to work and back, gym in between, meal prep perhaps. No reading, no hobbies, no interests, discussions to be had memories to be shared. Just banal, monotonous chatter. That leads NOWHERE.

I’ve never understood why someone would message you daily, but share nothing substantial about themselves? Just an empty sleeve, I know your basic needs what you eat, do and like, but nothing more. And, now we must meet? Hell no. Mr/Mrs Sleeve.  

If you are looking for marriage – do that. Each conversation should serve a purpose, a sign or signal as to whether you are compatible. This isn’t a journal, a daily entry of your life, this is an effort to find a life partner! Honestly, has social media left us so inept we cannot even court anymore? Has the chase died? We no longer know how to interact, talk, converse, get to know one another. Instead, we look at empty images, hear empty information, and have an empty relationship. No thanks.
