Additional points to add.

I realised we swayed from the composed tempo tremendously. Where I dont think the tempo had a dramatic effect on the performance the ability to replay the piece in its desired entirety suffered.

Time Time Time Time

Never enough time. Not that I felt it was rushed but it was rushed. I underestimated the time it would take to setup. I then wanted to run through the score before we recorded as I didn’t have anyone else performing or an audience.

Im glad the musicians enjoyed themselves, I wanted them to feel at ease there were room for them to express themselves. I didn’t want it to seem regimented. This may have affected the tightness of the performance and is probably apparent from the lack of rehearsal time. We managed to go from start to finish quite smoothly. There were no change problems and we never got lost in the score.

So today is the day. I have to say though, I dont feel any nerves. Haha. I have a rather high sense of confidence in myself. Not to pat myself on the back. However my fears lay with the other musicians. Not doubting their ability to play, it’s there ability to play and it not sounding like it should have been rehearsed more. Which is my fault… I guess… I may have placed too much responsibility on them? Maybe I know this deep thats why I may sense it in the first place…. But time is against me right now. The studio I wanted to use has let me down and I can’t use college as the drummer works full time so evenings are a must. Ha I’ve realised this sounds like the performance is going down hill! There are good points. I know they know the changes, the chords, what there meant to be playing and where. So I look forward to performing and recording it. Oh and I know they’ll turn up. The venue is on their doorstep!
