I Miss You, Hugs and Kisses (1978) | Dir. Murray Markowitz
First Murray and now Lonny??? FUCK THIS đđđđ
Some thoughts about Hunters on Amazon
I usually donât make posts on here about any of the new shows I watch talking about my thoughts on it, I usually do that on twitter but I feel like thereâs at least a few people on here whoâve seen Hunters thatâll come across this post.
I havenât stopped thinking about it since I finished it last night. Part of that is because of Mindy and Murray and how I absolutely adored them and their relationship with Jonah. The other part is because of what happened in the finale.
So yes, spoilers ahead about the finale, youâve been warned if you havenât seen it yet.
Okay, the Meyer twist. The entire time I was watching it go down I just kept saying âwhat the fuck??â because I was both shocked and mad about this twist.
We knew something was off with Meyer because the propagandist lady calling him the great pretender, but I thought that it was because Meyer, to her, acting as if he was innocent when in reality he killed 11 men to save Ruthâs life.Â
But to make him the wolf? really? I donât necessarily think it was lazy writing but it also wasnât good and there are plot holes. For one, at the beginning of the finale when Meyer and Ruth meet for the first time since he left her, she points out how big and empty the room they were in was. Meyer says that it was bigger than the flat they shared. If Meyer was killed while he and Ruth were still at the Russian camp then that means she wouldâve left on her own and never shared a flat.Â
Something someone on tv time pointed out too was that how did Ruth not notice Meyer was killed and taken away? I mean in the flashback they were sleeping in a cuddled position. I guess the wolf couldâve been very quiet about it but idk. Another thing is that why would the wolf go to the extent of putting the scar on his chest if only he and meyer knew about it? ruth possibly knew but since ruth thought meyer ran off, then she wouldnât be seeing that scar ever.Â
Thereâs more things that donât make sense but for the sake of not writing an entire novel, Iâll keep it at that. Honestly to me, having Meyer be the wolf the entire time kind of tainted everything that came before it. I would have much rather preferred that it was meyer the entire time and he died when the car crashed into the river with the colonel. I understand Pacino is expensive to keep around and heâs 80 so doing a tv show at his age is probably a lot but they couldâve written him out any other way. They couldâve had it be the real meyer the entire time and after the near death experience he decided to retire and pass the hunt to Jonah.
One more thing, the finale seemed very rushed and arguably out of character at some points. Thereâs some absolutely valid criticism Iâve read in articles and on here. The show in general struggled in some places with the writing and with the toning of it all.Â
I did enjoy the first nine episodes despite the issues and Iâd say the best things to come out of it are Murray and Mindy (who deserved better) and their relationship with Jonah, Roxy, Lonny, and seeing Naziâs get their karma.Â
I would literally lay down my life for Jonah Heidelbaum, and also Murray and Mindy Markowitz tbh and wouldn't even have to think twice lol

Saul Rubinek and Logan Lerman in Hunters.
Murray is a national treasure.
Who is going to fix that leak in the sink? Youâll get a handyman. And whoâs going to change the light bulbs? Youâll ask the boys.
They told this story about how this man and his wife were imprisoned in different camps, held apart for years. But there was this one gate that all the prisoners were marched through every day, and so this man would pick a dandelion or a weed or whatever he could find, and he... heâd tie it to the fence, so that his wife would see it when she would walk by. Because even in all the horror and the death, he still wanted to tell her that everything was gonna be all right. He still needed to tell her, âI love you.â
