As I've said before, Murg has meanings in several different languages.

MURG (German)

Murg is the name of several rivers in Germany and Switzerland which are in turn offshoots of larger tributaries of the High Rhine, and a town in Switzerland.

Murg is the name of a settlement in modern Germany in the Southern Black Forest close to the Swiss border. The first written reference to the town dates to 1260 in documents that call it Murgon or mention a Konrad de Murgon in connection with the town. Human settlement existed from Roman and Celtic times and it was an Alemanni farming village in the 4th-7th centuries.

However, any earlier written references were destroyed in the August 12, 1272 fire that completely destroyed the town of Bad Säckingen (less than 35 km up the river) including the archives of Säckingen Abbey's nunnery, which was originally a monastery as well, but by this time the monastery had ceased to exist.

In Jasper's story, Vesel is kicked out of the coven in 1271.

A fire that completely destroys an archive?

A fire that completely destroys an archive, maintained by women, nuns, who were often the only literate women in the area? Whose abbesses were often noble women, and had rents and power over large tracts of land?

What does that resemble?

Especially in a story where a fire burned down a library by accident or by arson, not even 33 years ago (from 2025)?

Especially in a story that Jasper is telling to convince Guy to destroy a backup to a library because "the power in our world is information?"

Especially when there seem to be no powerful women (maybe Helen? idk) in this show and any collectives of women (the Maida Vale coven) are slaughtered?

Especially when we later learn the 752 is a woman who was turned into a vampire and who presumably the Talamasca would've kept cloistered for eternity?

Sackingen Abbey controlled or got rents from large areas of land.

Fridolin von Säckingen and Urso's Undead Will Probate

Säckingen Abbey's founder, St. Fridolin, founded many monasteries. He got one large tract of land from a bequest from a wealthy noble called Urso. Urso died and his brother, Landolph contested it. To prove the bequest, St. Fridolin resurrected Urso from the dead and had him testify before the court. Urso is almost always represented as a rotting corpse or a skeleton in art. And once he was done, Urso shambled back to his grave.

His feast day is March 6 in the Catholic Calendar, March 7th in the diocese of Strausbourg, and March 19th for Orthodox Christians who follow the Julian Calendar.

After Fridolin died, his bones were part of a reliquary.

Every year since 1347 on the Sunday after March 6th, the St. Fridolin's reliquary is paraded through the town.
