ok, aesthetically? Munchkins are really, REALLY fucking cute. They hit me right in the cute. Their wee little stubby legs, their tiny little ears, their big ol' eyes, the round face; everything about them just appeals to me in a major way.

BUT I do not think they should exist as a breed. I do not think they are ethical to breed. They tend to develop arthritis at a young age because their body type puts more weight onto their short front legs, they tend to have more problems grooming themselves, they tend to have back problems, and they can't jump as well. Their ability to cat is inherently limited and I don't like that. I think a cat breed should be able to Cat effectively.

This is compounded because the breeds most popular for Munchkinizing tend to be brachy breeds. Both of the munchkins I currently look after are Persian Munchkins (called a Minuet or Napoleon), so they've got the added problem of these luxurious thick coats that they can't maintain and very short faces. Both munchkins also have a specific deformation called 'funnel chest' (more properly called pectus excavatum). It's when the ribs and the sternum don't develop properly, which leads to breathing problems.

Granted, their faces aren't as brachy as some of the persians I've looked after, but still. I don't think we should add MORE problems to an already problematic breed.
