Of course Iduna knew a quiet baby wasn’t really a good thing. She was worried, but still glad that everything else seemed to be fine with her. And if she was being very honest, Iduna didn’t care if she didn’t make it, as long as Elsa’s okay.
She’s been feeling awfully cold throughout the whole pregnancy, but it wasn’t because of the cold temperatures outside. Actually, she couldn’t warm herself up, no matter what she tried, but she didn’t tell anyone about this. She didn’t want anyone to worry. And of course she was surprised that Elsa was cold, but now that she felt warm again…maybe it came from her? Iduna knew that magic run through her family and with all her secret ancestry…Well, whatever it was, she was way too tired to think more about it.
Iduna began to cry when she cuddled her little baby. “I love her so much.”
Gerda held her breath at the sight of Iduna crying. It’s just happy tears, she told her own heart. Her Queen was alright. She was happy. Because of the terrible seven months of pregnancy, Gerda was struggling yet to connect with the baby. Of course, she would care for Elsa, she would dedicate her life for that child, but her fear of losing Iduna... What nonsense, Gerda! This baby is the best thing you’ll have from Iduna. You should be rejoicing! Another little girl for you to love.
She leaned closer to see Elsa again, she was so pale, the locks of thin white hair looked like fur from a cub. The nursemaid kept watching as the kid grimaced, then turned her head towards her mommy, breathing in her smell, sensing her presence. Her chest moved out of rhythm, she seemed to struggle for a moment. Then... a soft cry. It was so low, the sobs started shaking the small body and the infant’s scream filled the air. “Oh, there you are!” Gerda smiled, truly excited to hear Elsa showing off her powerful lungs “That’s much better, young lady”. Elsa cried louder.
