New Brighton as a town began when noted Liverpool merchant James Atherton purchased the land in order to create a desirable residential area for the well off. It later became a popular resort and was noted for being "Liverpool'ss playground" up until the late 1960's when the area went into decline.

I remember visiting in the early 2000's and thinking it was pretty grim. Since then the front has been developed and is now home to the longest promenade in the UK.

Dale Street is one of the original "Seven Streets" that made up the original medieval borough of Liverpool that was founded by King John in 1207. It remains a major thoroughfare and is home to various businesses.

It is said that a wild bores skull was found in the 19th century when work was being carried out to install sewers. Another story claims that Adolf Hitler lived on the street between 1912 and 1913! Apparently he was staying with his half-brother and dogging military service in hie native Austria.
