🛍️Arvio🛍️: head empty, no thoughts. Says yes immediately. Of course he would. His love for the builder transcends even species (someone come get this boy pls 💀-) need you even ask?

“I’d still love you that even butterflies would pale in comparison to your beauty as a worm.”

🌻Burgess🌻: bewildered but excited to answer. Pure sunshine boy. Happy they’d even asked or consider the notion. Obviously he’d still love them as a worm!

💚Owen💚: thoroughly amused. A thick brow raised, cocked hip and growing crooked grin. His eyes sparkle with amusement and he’s one to play along just to melt his little builder’s heart some more, make them fall even harder for him. He is a storyteller after all.

🏅Pen🏅: lmao, sorry. He’s new to romance and is still surprised he’s landed the builder half the time when his bravado leaves him. But this?

🚀Qi🚀: hears “worm” and sidetracks before realizing what they said. Cue another confused boy who is going to give them a bit of scathing judgment and a severe questioning look.

“Worms. Members of the clitellata class. Members of the genus Lumbricus. Known for- wait, did you just ask if I’d love you as a worm?…you know I’ve dissected worms before, right? Do you still want me to answer?”

🪨Unsuur🪨: best boi confused too. Gives them an odd look, severely confused and wondering if this is just a normal thing with people that he’s been ignorant of. Gives a resounding “no” in response. The builder should follow up by asking if they were a rock, would he still love them.

Looks away, checking the dirt and sand on his boots. “You’d probably be a rare jewel if you were a rock, gem. I’d take such good care and protection of you if you were.” Talk sedimentary to him pls -

Definitely how the characters feel more fleshed out! I’ve played a bunch of games of the same genre and the only that felt abit similar was stardew valley but even then… all the added small interactions they put in game is insaaane!

Some inconsistencies sometimes story wise tho (hopefully they’ll fix them like they said they would)

As for the name of my workshop, i keep changing it because it either feels too boring (my builder name’s + workshop) or cheesy with a pun. So eh, I never ended up deciding what to call it, its just up in the air for the meantime.

She’s a serious gal at first, even can be a bit intimidating, but once she starts getting close with someone the sweeter she becomes.

Ofc gotta include Logan. He’ll more than understand the whole aspect of “intimidating but sweet” thing Jay has because he can relate. Her quietness and indifference to his recent history made her one of his top people to escape and find company with when trying to settle back in Sandrock prove to be mentally taxing. Also, she needs to stop stealing his goat.

Heidi is friendly and tries to make everyone feel included. She’ll be sweet to Jay and invite her to do things. Let her know she values her as more than a builder doing her bidding for some projects. Heidi’s got such an endearing personality, she’d probably crack Jay’s cold demeanor and mask.

For all his bravado and arrogance, he’s actually a bit surprised the builder chose him of all people.

Not that he’d admit that tho

He lowkey loves flaunting the fact that he’s taken and unavailable after the builder gets with him

Like even if a tourist comes up to ask for directions-

“Halt there, stranger. Per the rules of the sanctity of my relationship with our local builder; I shan’t engage in conversation with those who gaze upon my gains in wonderment and awe.”

They’ll spend the next few hours looking for the store they need

Logan and Owen are really his biggest competition and he treats them as so if his builder is close with one of them

He’s kind of a crybaby if the builder tugs on his heart strings enough

Full on crying and blaming the sand, saying it got in his eyes

He melts and shuts down for praise and genuine compliments. Can’t compute and gets slightly flustered

But he CAN flirt like it’s nobody’s business. He gives as good as he gets and more.

If the builder is a bit rambunctious, aggressive, defensive, impulsive, etc…

It somehow chills him out? Like he’s got to be the sane one between the two of them

Literally holding them under their arms and away from their target

Gives a half-assed apology because like, he still stands by the whole “I’m sorry you felt that way.”

The builder has to lead the way with initiating affection for most of the beginning of their relationship, sorry. He’s not used to it

Deadass fears breaking or crushing them (man has Lenny vibes from Of Mice & Men)

Brush his hair please. He somehow breaks and ruins brushes doing it himself because his constant jumping and running around leaves it knotted up

But if the builder has more patience and a gentle hand, Pen will come to them to help him out with his hair

One of the few times they’ll get a somewhat quiet Pen

He’ll groan continuously and in content as they work the knots out carefully

Also Pablo will thank them.

Playing with his hair afterward or just threading their fingers through his thick locks is a major bonus he loves

Believe it or not, while Pen tans nicely (don’t doubt that he’ll tan nude on top of the church out of view to get a full on even color) only the bridge of his nose will burn!

So when he’s with the builder, if they ignore his dismal to their concern and saying the burn will eventually fade into a tan-

And the start a daily routine of applying a little bit of sunscreen to that bit of skin

He’ll fall in love all over again

Them offering to help with his workouts makes him laugh

Until they start flirting with him and he realizes oh…

Oh, that works.

Cue Pen working hard to earn kisses in each rep or count

Cue Pen wanting more praises

Despite his constant flaunting and offers to feel up his muscles, it comes as a shock to him when they actually do

Know how he’ll stand for hours, maybe even days on end, in front of a mirror?

Yeah. If the builder stares at him, Pen will feel compelled to keep quiet and stay still no matter how long they take.

It’s something about the way their eyes look at him with admiration, adoration and love that fills him with a wholeness he’s been missing

Like those countless hours he’s spent working hard have finally amounted to something and he no longer needs to try finding his answer in his own reflection

Gets genuinely excited like a great big puppy when the builder offers to spar with him

Pen DOES learn to control his strength and capabilities eventually, so then it becomes a bickering fest if he’s holding back on them to those that are a bit prideful

Touched when the builder washes his cape for him because he will literally never remember to

Call him “my hero” and he might just die on the spot

Also, convince this man he is not indestructible or immortal please.

He’ll literally yeet himself off any tall surface or structure to surprise the builder

He almost broke a few bones at different times

Love lovES LOVES when the builder is standing on a higher surface than him. Platform, steps, ladder, stairs, etc

Makes the man swoon so fast when they have the (literal) higher ground for some reason

There’s something about being able to hug his builder with his cheek against where their heart lays that completes him

Also his favorite sleeping position once he is promised that he’s not crushing them if he lays on top

Refuses to let the builder carry anything heavy if he’s around

He likes feeling useful

It’s not lending a hand to the church or the Civil Corps that fulfills him

Asking the hard questions, I see. This is what my degree is for (it’s actually for media production and cinema and screen studies but-) I’ll answer based upon if he was with my builder, Scout.

Scout and Nemo are meant to be, your honor.

Yan. 100000%. He does not like him at all. He becomes subject to harsh pushing to the side when Nemo accidentally wanders into his path. He’s been pushed off the edge of the stairs to the commerce porch when he was sleeping. Yan wouldn’t let him into the building during a sandstorm when everyone thought someone else had taken him in. But he could bear it. It was fine.

Until Scout adopts him.

While she protects him and he realizes he’ll never know harm and neglect again- he’s been witness to times where Yan has caused her emotional stress. He senses the frustration and her hitting her breaking point despite keeping her features blank as best as she can. And Nemo hates it. He can’t fix it. And he knows that Yan is the cause.

He’ll hold it against him- associate that negativity his owner feels with all the things he knows make this man up. He hates him and begins to growl at him on sight when he’s in Scout’s hold and Yan begins to come closer to her space.

If Scout isn’t there? Nemo avoids him at all costs.

He has though chewed on his hat before and pissed in his shoes.

7. What’s their opinion on the Research Centre?

Scout is actually FOR the discovery of things buried and lost in time. She knows where to draw the line- like what can and should be salvaged, and what she believes should remain tucked away and left to lay at rest. She and Qi actually get along quite well and her patience is everlasting, even with him surprisingly. Qi always makes the best tea so she doesn’t mind staying there to help him figure something out if she can lend her abilities (she’s not good at math or science though unfortunately) and it’s got the perfect minimal lighting she needs in certain areas. She thinks the past as good things that survived the Age of Darkness for a reason.

8. Are they interested in the old world?

VERY. Scout is someone people feel was born in the wrong time and era. Yet it’s possible her soul belongs further back before technology hit its peak in advancement. If she finds data discs only for Qi to say they’re kinda useless and just a movie? She takes them. She listens to every preserved or restored copy of songs she can get her hands on. She’ll read any book she can find that’s fictional and sometimes autobiographical. Hunting for ruins is fun for her and restoring relics. She loves it. It fascinates her endlessly.

9. Do they have any pets? Did they adopt any of the strays?

Nemo! When Scout first came to town- in every iteration, her first meeting with Nemo was almost a disaster as she was distracted by trying to figure out where to go and bad at directions, she almost tripped over the poor dog. Every iteration, Unsuur saves the day and snatches him up before disaster struck. That’s how those two meet as well. She loves all the strays in town- and recognizes Captain as primarily Justice’s and Unsuur’s- but Nemo and her bonded like no other. He also likes to ride in the front basked of her bike.

For a while I contemplated giving her a sugar glider-like animal…

10. What’s their house like? Is it well decorated? Do they take pride in their home or let it get messy?

Scout is very much one of those “if my space is a mess, my mind is a mess.” She tries her best to keep things organized and tidy- especially because sometimes sand blows in so she’s gotta sweep every day or so. She likes for her, Nemo and her friends to have a safe and clean space to relax in. Her being a city girl helps her keep on top of the cleaning because she misses her apartment from back home that was nice and well organized. She compensated as her house grows with indoor plants and such, books and Old World items she has. She takes pride in her house.
