msu:mayhem starter for @msufriday !

following a strange—and at times, pleasant—conversation with eve, hazel turned her attention to some of the garden’s other inhabitants. maybe now would be the perfect time for her to partake in the tea leaf readings of the divination club, she thought to herself after catching a glimpse of them—only that was before she had spotted friday a moment later. at first, she was tempted to rush to her friend’s side, though her intense craving for baked goods gave her a better idea: why not start the conversation off right with refreshments?

seojun should have learned a long time ago exactly how high his alcohol tolerance was. everytime he drank just a little too much, something crazy ended up happening— like that one incident that happened freshman year ( he prefers not to talk about it ). with all the exciting recent events, however, seojun couldn’t help but to let loose at a party or two. he was a little tired of being everyone’s semi-sober friend at parties, and besides— it was spooky season.  everyone knew the best parties took place around the time of october.

but maybe seojun should have sat this one out, as all he gained from last night’s party was a massive headache! it was so bad, seojun could barely open his eyes due to the sun that shined so bright his pupils ran for cover. seojun groaned as he lifted the covers above his head, praying that the sun would miraculously disappear or hide behind a big puffy cloud. as he began to drift back asleep, he couldn’t help but notice half of his body was hanging off the bed, which was... weird. but nothing he couldn’t fix by scooting in a bit. seojun rolled closer to the center of the bed, slinging his arm over the body that laid so closely to his.

kangdae was still riding the high of victory hours later, there was nothing like a great game to start of the season. yeah winning was amazing but, the fact that the chaser played well, and got to spen time on the filed was enough for him. though the praise made him feel like he had a floating charm on him. and while he tended not to go to parties as often during the quidditch season, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t go hard at the victory party that friday was planning at nightowls.

come on with the amount of points he got during the game, he kind of deserved it to be honest.

the party was in full swing when kangdae arrived. yes he was a little late, but he had to attend an after game meeting with the quidditch team. his eyes scanned the crowd, looking for any of his friends, when he spotted friday not far from the entrance.

“friday!” kangdae cheerfully called out, throwing his arm around the senior with a cocky grin, “this party’s looking pretty sick so far, is this ALL for me?” he teased before looking around the room once more. “have you seen seojun? he left before me, and i haven’t had a chance to text him.”

“oh yeah you’re pretty...” he bit his lip, holding in his laughter, “pretty stinky!”

despite having his jeans rolled up to his knees, the edges are damp with water from the pool of universe where taejun had just come from. his unlacing sneakers are tied together and wrapped around his neck, both shoes dangling on either side bouncing against his torso with each step he takes. his bare feet thump quietly against the dirt path as he sends a few texts back to alec, slightly concerned at the texts regarding the boy's thoughts about leaving the reserve team.

of course if his roommate ultimately chose to leave the team there wasn't much taejun could do. but as co-captain, there was a lot he would try to do to meet the needs of his teammates no matter what. it's the least he can do to make sure that as both his roommate and teammate, alec enjoyed his time on the team and leaves with a light heart.

taejun comes to halt though when he suddenly spots a pair of feet from the corner of his eyes. bare feet. matching his own.

so he slips his phone into his pocket and finally lifts his head to see who the other bare foot person is. after all, it wasn't often that taejun came across someone who preferred the comfort of no shoes over protecting them with the weather beginning to drop as the start of autumn arrived.

when he sees who it is though, it's  pleasant surprise. "oh, friday! i didn't expect to see you out here."

soohwa is probably a little drunker than he wanted to be, at least, he definitely took more shots than he was planning, but then taeyeon looked so happy and free and soohwa would never have the heart to take it from her, to be the partypooper that he usually is and would be if it were anyone else, if it were any other day. it’s a blessing that taeyeon is enjoying her birthday so much, but not so much when it can be used so easily to get soohwa do yield, to let loose for once even if it’s for her sake more than his own. besides, he’s still somewhat aware that he needs to meet hyunki soon, should probably start looking for—

oh.

the evening slows considerably, post-peak of the party reaching comedown. the music follows in tandem to account for the lull in the room. jae crinkles his nose at his surroundings, decides to call it time. considering it’ll be better spent elsewhere, well. 

he moves through the throng of loose, glitter-soaked bodies, eye on the nearest exit through the plumes of thin purple smoke. an easy out. or what should’ve been. the body that suddenly runs into him is enough to throw him off-focus, other hand up to steady the weight. “bathroom’s that way,” he begins in a playful lilt, but she raises her head and any unsuspecting cheer dies on the tip of his tongue in an instant. 

“oh.” 

is that all there is to say? had he been more eloquent, kinder, the possibilities might’ve been worth something. but all there is is this stale air and that clawing feeling of discomfort that comes with this breach in distance. 

a pause or break from unexpected ( or expected ) consequence.  see also: hana and @msufriday​ as the ending credits roll and hana stops friday from barfing into her new gucci shoes. 

if hana had thought halloween would have gone any differently, she was sorely mistaken. ( it wasn’t like she loved the holiday or anything so expectations were otherwise low to begin with ) but she sits, languidly with knees pushed into her chest as she watches the ending credits for whatever zombie slasher flick they had just watched roll past. there’s a small intermission spoken over the speakers, ramblings of the next movie to be shown spoken at last, and it’s enough of a bore that hana has half the mind to get up and go back to the library.

sure, it was a saturday, but leave it to cho ahyoung to send over a laundry list of things that she was expecting to be done before sunday morning came around. and alas, what cho ahyoung wanted done, cho hana got done in nearly half the expected time. it was a chore, above anything, but hana knew if it didn’t happen --

chills ascended up her spine at the thought.

her groan drifts from her lips, none too keen on actually leaving ; but she stretches her legs -- feeling the ache of immobility strain them. the kinks that clung to her joints pulls another sigh from her ; fingers wringing as she stretches like a feline at ease. she waits a beat -- a minute or two -- then she’ll leave ; any longer and she’ll catch the intro to a new movie, not that that would be a bad thing but hana hates to be the discourteous shadow amidst avid movie viewers. another minute and she gets the nerve, on the move to mobilize limbs and stand when she feels the air change and suddenly she’s not alone on her perch on the blanket.
