Since it's still Father's Day where I am, I just thought I'd list three great fictional fathers off the top of my head.

Jonathan Kent (Superman)

(I am speaking of the character in generalities. There is at least one version of the character I do not care fo.)

Oh, come on. Who doesn't know one half of the team who adopted an orphan and helped shape him into one of the greatest heroes who ever lived? With a combination of Midwestern folksiness and down-to-earth wisdom, he and his wife instilled kindness and wisdom into one of the most powerful beings on Earth. Post-Crisis (with the exception of the New 52 era), Clark could always go to the farm for some pie and comfort. While Krypton birthed Kal-El, Earth made Clark Kent a hero.

2. Mr. Ping (Kung Fu Panda)

Much like Jonathan Kent, Mr. Ping also adopted an orphan. He didn't raise Po to be a hero, but to inherit the family noodle shop. He's never negative about Po's interest in Kung Fu before the events of the first movie, but he does try to be practical. When Po fails, Mr. Ping is always there to prop up a kind word and some noodle-related wisdom When Po becomes the Dragon Warrior, Mr. Ping couldn't be prouder...as he adds exhibits in the shop related to his son. When Po's biological father shows up, he's understandably angry and jealous. He then realizes that Po having 2 fathers (and thus, two different perspectives) can only be good for Po.

3. Shin Hayata (Ultraman manga/Netflix anime)

Shin Hayata was the original host of Ultraman. At the end of their adventures, Ultraman separated from him and Shin lost his memories of their time together. However, he still retains enhanced speed and strength from the Ultraman Factor that was left behind--abilities that his son Shinjiro inherited. Shin comes off as somewhat awkward and distant to his son, due to his duties as part of the Defense Agency and, later, the reformed SSSP. When Shinjiro is attacked by an alien claiming to be "Bemular," Shin springs into action with an armored suit. Shin counsels his son on the difficult path of being a hero.

And...that's it. Those are 3 fictional fathers that I like. I mean, it would have been easy to pick some bad fathers, but...I think we all need a little positivity.
