My last reblog got me thinking...
With Mob suppressing so much of his feelings, all the complex emotions are almost "forgotten" in a sense. Same way ???% was; Shigeo was. So even though Mob is like "he's my good buddy" it may only sound like that because he literally has no idea how to express anything OTHER than that. Mob might see Teru as a rival too, he might see him as an enemy, or a good friend, someone he admires as well, someone he loves even. Whichever it is, its buried so deep inside him.
Because of this, I think their relationship will peak in high school. By then, Mob will show his emotions and they'll have to deal with all that yucky complex potentially toxic confusing stuff.
....like it makes more sense why ???% fucking had it out for Teru in confessions arc.

i think the reason why tome’s arc in s3 eps 7&8 is so blindly gorgeous isn’t just because of the amazing animation, but also because tome desperately wanted to know that she wasn’t alone in the universe and she felt like she was running out of time. then she learns that’s she’s NOT alone in the universe, because she’s surrounded by people who love her and want to support her passions, and that there is always time for the things we love.
and then she actually discovers aliens and just fucking kicks it with them all night
Sub ???% Voice vs. Dub ???% Voice
These are clips from the same moment in S3E10 where Teru declares that ???/Shigeo is “average after all” and ???% seems to sigh in exasperation.
The sub is more subtle and makes ???% seem more like an otherworldly being or a force of nature; maybe even spirit-like. The noises he makes are less recognizable as human than in the dub, which is much more overt (his sigh is twice as long and even more annoyed and his growl is super loud) and makes him seem more animalistic, like a feral creature.
