I’ve been getting asked how I moved my side blogs to a new main blog. Always make sure you have a main blog connected to your side blog so you don’t accidentally delete it!
First, make the blog you want to be your main blog. Usually this is a brand new account, but if you have an existing main you want to use you can use that as well. I recommend having your original blog open in one window and your new account in another browser or incognito window because you need to switch between the two a few times.
You can have more than one main blog, the great thing about this is you can check your side blogs while signed into different main blogs, so if you want one feed to be RP blogs and another your meme or special interests (like video games or a specific fandom) you can! Or you can remake your main blog if you’ve gotten problematic followers harassing you without having to remake your side blogs to keep them. Additionally, sometimes you have a blog that you just lost interest in; you don’t want to delete it, but you also don’t want a cluster of dead blogs to scroll through on your main account- you can do this to move them to an archive account and if your interest comes back you can move it back to your main. Just remember that any asks or messages sent will be from the main blog you are signed into. Additionally your secondary blog’s chat will be disabled if there is more than one account attached to it.
Next it’s time to move your existing secondaries over to your new main account. Click the “person” icon in the upper right of your dashboard, then select the account you want to move/add to your new main. I’m going to be connecting my art blog @avidlyanimating to a secondary feed of other artists I follow.
Then click the “Members” link.Â
