i am in fact a music kid (i do orchestra winds but i'm primarily band, i play saxophone)
i absolutely get this i literally fucking dropping choir because of my weird messed up vocal range
ok so i'm a pre-t trans guy right (so that means my voice hasn't dropped so i should have a "typical" afab voice) yet my range if i like warm up and am not sick is probably like c3 to bb4 maybe (i know it's not very high i cannot use my head voice for the life of me because i quit choir after middle school). i think at my lowest i've probably hit like bb2 (some days my voice sits really fucking low for some reason)
so yeah i'm basically a tenor which means i sucked trying to sing the alto parts in choir. and when i told my teacher in like 7th grade (i was going to see if she'd move me to the baritone section because that was what happened to guys with low voices) and she told me to fix my vocal range so i quit the day before the concert. and i rejoined in 8th grade and she finally agreed to make me a tenor
i would be SO remiss if i didnt tell u about this documentary we're watching in ap comparative government for china rn!!! its about the first democratic election in a school for class monitor.
the twist is theyre all 3rd graders including rhe candidates its the funniest shit ever
