Mothmen aren’t usually my thing (will admit tho the fuzzy mane is very appealing) but there is one type of moth that I think would be really interesting as a mothman;
A Baphomet moth.
Imagine going on a date with a mothman who you’ve been talking to for a while and he doesn’t tell you what kind of moth he is.
Expecting a cute fuzzy (maybe slightly ominous) monster man only to see a massive eldritch (but still fuzzy) monster moth with tentacles fluttering nervously because he knows he doesn’t look like other mothmen and is trying not to seem to scary to you.
See I love this idea, but it's also funny to me because of your walking in and this type of mothman has his "tentacles" out he is broadcasting that he is horny and wants to fuck.
Cause male baphomet moths only have those strange pieces out when it's breeding time, cause they carry their scent in the wind!
So I'm imagining coming into a nice but small restaurant, coming to your table and seeing your date, sure you're startled by the difference between his looks and the idea you had in your head but he did mention he isn't a usually encountered type of mothman, so doing your best you take the chance and sit down for the date. Finding yourself pleasantly surprised, as this giant mothman is actually pretty sweet despite the more eldritch appearance he has, giggling as you flirt with him, finding yourself surprised again as slowly long grey tendrils slip down the sides of his neck.
They twitch and move slightly as his face grows warm, he knows you won't understand what it means but still nerves over take him as you comment on the scent he must be wearing, calling it lovely and a perfect fit for him.
Just currently blissfully unaware of just how desperate your date has become for you, and of how enamored he has become on the first date.
This evenings bad photo marker scribble!! I like moths and I like mimic things, so I put them both together to make a moth mimic! (Have been kinda consider modifying my moffy blog mascot too)
This fella really really reaaaaallly wants to be seen as cute and cuddly but can't seem to dodge the "has way too many teeth to look safe" allegations 8>
Look at the sort of opinions I'm up against! We were denied the Giant Moth in RE2Remake, we will not be denied the Chestburster Moths!!!!

The garden you cared for had become a more official playground for the gaggle of moth children. Sitting on your porch, you watch the little ones amble around playing tag or gliding from rock to rock.
You have had to intervene a few times when they have wandered too close to the herb patch you were cultivating, offering to let them sniff the small cuttings instead of having them tug random handfuls off the small herb bushes.
The small girl moth child often comes and sits next to you when she's done playing, flopping over your feet or climbing into your lap to huff and rub at her little fluffy collar. She's adorable and seems to act like the unofficial queen of the group, as not long after she finishes playing, others tend to flock over and join her in sitting with you until the larger moth monster comes to collect them all.
Speaking of the larger moth creature that comes to collect the children, they have begun to appear earlier and earlier, resting much like their daughter on the porch with you, wings folded behind them as they bask in the fading light, antennae flicking and twitching as you sit and read or work on something small that won't take up too much focus. You like to think he has come earlier to spend time with you, but it's not something you put a lot of faith too, after all, his child is amongst the little mothlings wandering your temporary backyard.
As summer really begins to set in, the small mothlings begin to hang out around your house more and more. You note that their colours seem brighter as the days grow longer and warmer, losing layers of your own as you decide to do something that will benefit both you and the little ones.
After a particularly warm day, you hunt online for a shallow pool, one of those toddler-safe ones, getting it shipped to you and dragging it out the moment it arrives, gently redirecting the small, curious moths as they try to climb in before you have put any water in the pool.
You only put enough to cover the bottom of the pool, placing the little ones in it and watching as they go feral, splashing and flicking water at each other as you make sure all of them get a turn. While indulging the little ones, a shadow falls across you. The larger moth monster is standing over you, blinking curiously as he watches you play with the little ones. The shadow he casts is cool, and you smile up at him, watching as he slowly sits next to you and helps you with the children.
The little ones love the little pool and can cool down more effectively, often demanding the pool be put out for them as they swarm your back deck and knock on the door, little faces pressed to the glass as they wait for you to come out and play with them.
On the particularly warm days over the following month, you find yourself having the large mothman by your side more and more.
One summer evening, you have waved off the mothlings and packed away the pool for the day, sighing as you make sure everything is set for the evening, mentally already planning your dinner and what you might need from your garden when you hear familiar chittering. Turning around, you find the fully frown moth monster standing by the edge of your garden.
Curious, you wander back over and wait for him to speak up about why he was back. Did one of the mothlings leave something behind? You hadn't found anything out of place, so his return is just as confusing as always.
You try not to jump when he takes your hand and guides it to his mantle of fluff, sinking your fingers into it and purring? It's a soft rumbling noise that picks up as you bring your other hand up and run your fingers through the fluff. It's soft and surprisingly cool for the time of year. The more you pet, the closer he gets, rumbling and leaning down to brush his antenna across your cheeks.
He continues to purr as he speaks, rasping out about nesting season and how he would enjoy having another small mothling, his own hands coming to rest on your hips as he fans his wings, curling them around the two of you. Sinking you into shadows as he asks if you'd consider him as a nesting partner, when he pulls his hands away from your hips, he produces another silk object from somewhere unseen, wrapping it around your wrist and leaning down to nuzzle against the side of your head, chittering softly before fully pulling away.
Leaving you stunned and standing in the backyard, watching as he becomes another shadow between the trees.
This is a follow up piece to this
I just read your new moth fic and I love them! It has the softest vibes :)
I know you just posted it, but if you go back to it I think it would be so cool to see reader give the moths a really pretty candlestick holder as a present!
I was actually planning to do two more pieces for the moth monster, one more fluffy one and a smutty one later.
Originally it was meant to be a gangbang style fic, where a gaggle of moth monsters fell in love with you by watching through the windows, but my love for single parents overcame me and fluff was born.
Tho I can definitely see mixing in a return gift giving part in the next fluffy part, a few hand made candles and yeah a nice candle holder that you found online or from the nearby town that is likely hand carved.
Explaining your job to someone always gets you looks, you're a glorified house sitter, you were blessed in college with an ad for a house sitting gig and it just spiralled from there.
Nowadays it's rich eccentric assholes that hire you to keep their spare homes off of lists for abandonment claims, or to shoo off would be squatters. But none of that really mattered to you, not when you got paid silly amounts to simply live in these homes for long enough to make their overly rich owner happy, or none of that mattered till this house, till this job.
You went through all the normal steps and verifiable checks to be comfortable taking the job, and then you saw the timeline for your work.
Years, not weeks or months, this person wanted you to live in one of their little homes in the middle of nowhere for ten years, just shy of the squatting laws of the area it was in but seeing the payout on the end date there was no way you wouldn't have taken it.
Sure the whole packing up and moving every few months was annoying, but this, this would be perfect, you'd snagged a remote work job on top of it and even if the client cut the time down by a few years you'd be set afterwards, you signed and returned the contract a few days after it arrived and began the pack up of your aksy job eager now to move to this new place that you'll be living in for the next few years.
Years, the idea still boggles you.
When you arrive it's all by the books, check in, confirmation, and set up of schedule for what needs to be done around the house, but the moment it was all done you collapsed on a couch you knew probably cost more than you'd ever touch in your life time.
Before you knew it routines had begun and life moved on, a whole year passed and every check in sailed by smoothly, and just as you had grown comfortable with this new job the things that watched through the windows also grew comfortable with you as well. You'd met one of them around six months into your stay, a young girl or well young moth woman, she was tiny and fluffy as she looked at you with big black eyes before skittering back into the tree around the home.
Nowadays you'd see them more and more often when you did your gardening, mostly what you assume to be curious children watching and chittering as you pull weeds or replant the herbs that keep getting tossed about.
This evening you were sitting in the garden, summer having just begun and the evenings being the most pleasant time of the day, sitting in the grass as you watch the sky change colours. Flopping back against the lawn you have dreaded caring for as the heat sets in, listening to the familiar chittering that you'd grown comfortable hearing but soon it grew louder, and louder again as you slowly blinked open your eyes and came face to moth monster face with a large fluffy moth creature.
You can vaguely recognise the younger moth in the bigger ones arms, it was the very first little moth girl you had seen all those months ago.
Slowly you sit up and hold the gaze of the larger moth creature, watching as they set the child down and let her roam your garden as they settle themselves across from you. The collar of fluff around this things neck looks plush and practically calls for you to sink your fingers into it, but your frozen in place as it moves crawling around to sit next to you as it leans close, the twitching antenna on its head brush against your forehead as it looks over you, blinking a few times before it rumbles at you.
It thanks you for letting the little ones keep playing on the property even now that you live here, pulling a small but beautiful silk scarf from somewhere under its wings holding it out to you, a gift and payment in a way, hoping that you will keep letting the collective of small moth monsters play and thrive on your land.
Reaching out to take the scarf you shiver slightly at how soft the moth creatures fingers are when you brush against them, holding the scarf gently you agree to let the children keep playing in the yard but asking if they could not mess with the garden, jolting slightly as the small moth girl comes rushing back over, a clump of rosemary in her hands as she chitters and holds it out to you big eyes bright as you take it and nod in thanks at her.
Sitting on the grass you watch as the little moth is scooped up and held gently, tucking her head under the larger moths head and closing her eyes as she settles in, waving awkwardly at the two as they leave the backyard.
Once you're alone you look at the scarf and marvel at the delicate craft, rubbing the smooth silk between your fingers as you think about the larger moth creature, and about if would be inappropriate to ask to pat their fluff the next time you saw them.
