to those of my followers who aren’t lds-- which i think is just about all of you-- july 24th is the anniversary of the day the first mormon pioneers entered the salt lake valley. driven from their homes by religious persecution, early members of the Church of Jesus of Christ of Latter-Day Saints walked for over 1300 miles across the prairie until finally reaching the place that their prophet declared would be their new home.
it’s a very special day for us, especially for me, since i have many ancestors on both sides of my family who were part of this mass emigration.
