Coming Down to Earth
As a child, I was an astronaut. All it took was one leap into the air, and I was soaring through space. Whizzing past Jupiter, riding along Saturn's rings. Traveling to the dark side of the moon, just because I could. Catching shooting stars, Just because I could. Reveling in the bliss of daydreams, Just because I could. There came a time though, When I had to hang up my spacesuit And nail my feet to the floor. I could not travel to space again, but I could stretch up to the clouds. Dreaming through the days, In a different kind of bliss. I found my mind in a hazy state Most of the time. But again, I had to shrink down to Earth, people were missing me. It has been three years since I have traveled among the birds. Eight since I have soared with stars. Although my feet are still nailed, And my mind is kept inside, My spacesuit is just collecting dust, In the closet to my right.
