headcanons: jarls of skyrim and pets because why not
balgruuf: horse girl. nuff said. i think most animals probably like him and he definitely bought that spoiled daughter of his whatever poor creature took her fancy, kittens, birds, bunny rabbits, ponies, the lot.
igmund: dog guy, but like really willful and independent dogs, so they sleep in his bed whether he's there or not, and wander around understone keep unattended and unbothered, making judgmental faces at those thalmor guys and stealing food
elisif: cats, in a schmoopsy-boopsy baby voice kind of way, has an extremely fluffy creature that was a wedding present from torygg.
laila: also cats but in a 'why did i let this flea-ridden, ornery old thing in my house, i only keep him as a mouser, i can't wait to be rid of him [secretly loves the cat more than her sons]' kind of way. the cat isn't flea-ridden, or ornery, or even a mouser, just a normal cat. a stupid ginger one maybe. jorts from that one post.
idgrod: you know this bitch has a 'pet' raven that comes and goes as it pleases and only idgrod can touch it and the whole of morthal thinks it's spying on them for her and that maybe it is idgrod turned into a raven
ulfric: probably not much of an animal guy, has some admiration for bears and wolves and dragons but mostly in a symbolic, literary kind of way. maybe doesn't mind horses, or dogs, but he's not keeping anything in the palace, the only smelly fur-coated beast in there is galmar
siddgeir: also not much of an animal guy but would really like to be seen as an animal guy because that would give him an air of command that he lacks, likes to tell dogs what to do but they don't listen, thinks he'd look cool on horseback but the horse fidgets and wanders off, wants to have a bird of prey on his arm but they do not trust him one bit. maybe a cat might tolerate him but eh.
korir: idk maybe dogs but like small dogs, terriers that actually are for hunting like rats and mice and stuff, but also because there's no fucking room for anything bigger in winterhold. as a kid he had a pet clam which turned out to be a rock.
skald: a cat also in a 'how dare you suggest i like this creature' way but the cat is mostly feral. actually is a flea-ridden, ornery old thing because no-one can get near it but it does catch mice and rats so everyone just complains behind skald's back.

Skyrim Hold Shield Pins!
I've added some new pins to my shop! They're 32mm or 1.25in across with a metal back! They're for sale individually on my kofi shop (link in reblogs) or as a full set!
I did hand draw all of the crests over a shield base I made, these are not just screenshot from in game!
If you are interested in ordering some, please check the reblogs for my shop link, or my pinned post!
Thoughts on Morthal?
You want my thoughts on Morthal?
By the gods and ancestors where do I start on that one?
Morthal is meant to be the regional capital of Hjaalmarch, or so I'm told. Now when I think of a regional capital, I usually think of a relatively decent sized city. You know, one with like amenities and shit, maybe some plumbing— though I've found that Skyrim is often woefully lacking in this department outside of the old Imperial Core... um...
Yeah, turns out Skyrim also has a different idea of what constitutes as a "Regional Capital". Yeah like, apparently all you need to make any ol' hog farm a "Capital" is a Jarl and a throne they can sit their ass on.
I know Skyrim's in the ass end of nowhere and all that, but even the Imperials know what a fucking city is...
Morthal would be better described as an oversized hog farm that spawned a lumber mill. Place is located on the southern end of the great Drajkmyr marshes, and man they won't let you forget it!
It's cold, moist, and I swear the sun never reaches the frigid bog the whole place floats on. Safe to say, I'm not quite a fan of the place, but I generally dislike most swamps. I hold similar opinions around Gnaar Mok, Khuul or Seyda Neen. Nothing good every comes out of squatting in a swamp and Morthal's not any different just coz it happened to spring up in a particularly frigid one.
There's a bunch of angry as fuck country Nords who get spooked at their own shadow, and I guess I can kinda understand why. I'd be on edge if I had to live on the edge of a fucking Vampire den.
Did I mention the fucking Vampires?
Honestly the marshes are full of every kind of undead fuck that I can think of, myself not included. Pair that with a village full of paranoid fucks who'd piss themselves at the sight of an apprentice mage, the fact that the only inn in town has a leaking roof and less than stellar bathing facilities, and you have a miserable fucking place to spend the night.
The only thing in Morthal that I'm relatively neutral on is their Jarl, she's got a good head on her shoulders but she's clearly tired. I've met their resident mage as well, and I suspect he's there for reasons that aren't just related to the position of "Court Wizard". Guy's talents are wasted in that role, so he's got to be experimenting with something...
Yeah, not my favourite place in Skyrim, that's for sure...
