Evening Ritual in Honor of Morpheus
This is just a lovely evening ritual I put together to honor my god. The practices are connected to my personal experiences, but I believe there are a few that I share these with. Either way, it’s a great platform to start from to fit personal experiences.
(*Note: I am still learning, exploring, and experimenting with herbs, so my choices are pretty elementary. Feel free to explore and use your own.)
Take a bath using bubbles and herbal blends/salts. I prefer lavender and vanilla.
Dress in comfy clothes or pjs. (Not everyone sleeps in pjs, but you are going to be up for awhile, so dress in comfy clothes until going to bed properly.)
Make a cup of tea to share as an offering to Morpheus. I prefer sleepy time tea or a blend of chamomile, lavender, and vanilla perhaps with a touch of honey. (Use any drink you’d like such as hot chocolate, cider, warm milk, etc.)
If you prefer sound/white noise, play some music that you find soothing and comforting that reminds you of Morpheus. (I prefer the e-shrine YouTube channel or whatever seems to be calling me at the time or, more often than not, silence.)
Light a candle dedicated to Morpheus (I picked up a ‘dream candle’ that is lavender, ylang ylang, and rosemary which I anointed and then scribed with ‘Morpheus’ in Greek and in part was influenced by indigovagabond).
Curl up with a book, journal, or other quiet activity close to your candle. (I prefer to set aside my laptop and phone and keep the TV off). Before starting your quiet activity, take a moment to send your offering to Morpheus. Let him know you share your drink with him and that you are burning a candle and taking some quiet time in his honor. You can be formal about it with a little prayer or you can simply acknowledge such in your thoughts.
Enjoy some quiet time reading, writing, or some such until your drink is gone (do not reheat or get more, this acts as a timer more or less). Snuff out the candle and put your things away before retiring to bed.
Use a bedtime prayer of your choosing, preferably something specifically for Morpheus. If you have any requests - help with remembering dreams/lucid dreaming - request it now.
Sleep well, my friend. May Morpheus grace you with sweet dreams of fantasy.
