summer book stack
~ Amy & Roger's Epic Detour, Morgan Matson
Orpheus Leading Eurydice from the Underworld, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot
Love was about paying attention. It’s the one thing you can’t buy or fake or make up for at the last minute. So the things that meant the most to me were the little details that told you someone had been paying attention, memorising your random preferences, letting you know they cared.

୨୧ the ballad of darcy & russell — morgan matson
⊹ after a fallout with her travel companion to a music festival, darcy milligan finds herself stranded at a bus station until the morning— her last day home until she leaves for college. darcy has a dead phone, no cash, and believes nothing good will come out of this until she meets russell. as the two adventure through a small nevada town, darcy begins to fall for russell— only to start to question if it's possible to fall for somebody after only knowing them a day and if their relationship will last after tomorrow.
꒱ reasons for recommendation .ᐟ
darcyrussell are feels like coded! that song is their song, end of story. i could write an essay about the parallels between feels like and darcyrussell (and it would be 10+ pages at the very least). i cannot think of a better book recommendation than this one 😌
based on your blog aesthetic and personality, you remind me of those adorable summery romances with big, bold, colorful covers!
୨୧ beach read — emily henry
⊹ bestselling romance writer january andrews makes a deal with literary fiction author augustus everett, who also happens to be her neighbor at her new beach house. to combat their respective writer’s blocks, they agree to shake up their writing routines by swapping genres. while augustus tries his hand at writing a romance, january will be delving into the world of literary fiction. however, amidst it all, the pair begins to fall for one another.
꒱ reasons for recommendation .ᐟ
just take a look at that cover! the yellow? the beach towels? january's bathing suit? her cute lil sunhat? everything about it screams summer! this book is so cora coded to meeeeeee! 😚
gus everett saying the words ‘when i watch you sleep, i feel overwhelmed that you exist.’ is peak romance, how can i not recommend this one?
୨୧ rules for rule breaking — talia tucker
⊹ the baes and the parks have been close since their children were young. bobby and winter, however, have come to see each other as rivals. although they seemingly despise each other, the families band together to convince bobby and winter to go on a college tour roadtrip across the country. the constant close quarters forces bobby and winter to analyze one another, less as rivals, and more in the lens of friendship. their findings, however, aren’t exactly what they expected, especially after they learn that bending the rules sometimes isn't the end of the world.
꒱ reasons for recommendation .ᐟ
bobbywinter are risk coded! the little rule breaking subplot that forces them to step outside their comfort zones and take risks (that includes with each other) made me think of gracie's new single and naturally, as my fave gracie enthusiast i had to rec 🥹
୨୧ the summer of broken rules — k.l. walther
⊹ eighteen months after her sister’s death, meredith fox and her family have taken one of their yearly trips to martha’s vineyard for a family wedding. when meredith discovers the wedding participants are hosting the annual game of assassin to honor her sister claire, she decides to do whatever it takes to win the game for her. in doing so, meredith finds herself teaming up with the step-brother of the groom, wit. the two begin to fall for one another but meredith will begin to question if she can really love somebody she’s only known for a week.
꒱ reasons for recommendation .ᐟ
k.l. walther based the book and the main couple off of hey stephen and it makes for an adorable romance. wit and meredith's banter, chemistry, and relationship as a whole had me giggling, twirling my hair, and kicking my feet. i highly, highly recommend!
in the same vein, there are ton of taylor swift references scattered throughout the book! it was like a scavenger hunt to find them all and it made for a really, really fun time while reading 🤭
another summer romance with a cute cover! you remind me of spending the summer at the beach and this book really embodies that feeling <3
୨୧ this time it's real — ann liang
⊹ when eliza lin’s essay about true love unexpectedly goes viral overnight, she’s met with a problem: the ‘true love’ she writes about isn’t real. to combat this problem, eliza decides to strike up a deal with caz song, a boy in her class. he pretends to be her doting boyfriend, while eliza helps him fill out his college applications. as their fake relationship continues, eliza begins to question her feelings and wonders where the line between what's real and what's fake is drawn.
꒱ reasons for recommendation .ᐟ
elizacaz are the most gold rush slash you are in love couple to ever exist. everything about them screams those two songs. nothing can embody them more than gold rush and you are in love 🤕
cora, i've probably made it abundantly clear with every single recommendation, but you remind me of sweet ya romances (and the romance genre in general) and this book is exactly that 💕
i just really feel like you'd enjoy this one: from the romance, to the conflict, to the characters (their personalities and their struggles), it feels right up your alley!
