I have had the utter pleasure of being a part of an online bookclub called the Dumasriolles for the better part of three years now, celebrating works of Alexander Dumas and many other classics!
We got to travel to Paris last February to attend one of their artshows and we were treated to the kindest, best, and most generous welcome that has every been given. From its very beginnings it's been unforgettable.
This artwork, inspired by our good friend Christine's crocheted animal cast of the Three Musketeers, was a gift to her and my own way of remembering the show!
From top down, the blue heron is Cardinal Richelieu, the white mouse is Milady de Winter, the white rat is Mordaunt, the cat is Aramis, the bear is Porthos, the wolf is Athos, the stoat is Constance, and the fox is D'artagnan!

Mordaunt to match the others
Honestly you could do juicy fiction about Raoul and Mordaunt being two aspects of one same person:
You admire your father and his adventures with his friends
You don't understand why he grips so tightly the wrist of the hand cought in the cookie jar or why his arms wrapped around your neck after a harsh punishment feel like a noose.
You are raised with the idea your mother was a good person who died tragically young soon after her wedding.
You have never seen a painting or proof of her having existed at all in this house.
