Shrinkflation in my knives, or was the cork handle always this much bigger than the regular lines?
Blade is same width on both. New knife is about 1 cm shorter blade, about an inch shorter in the handle. Handle is thicker on the old knife, but is also a different material.
Ergonomically, I prefer the handle on the new knife, happily enough. Always liked the feel of Moraknivs. It does make it a little harder to draw out of the sheath, though, especially one-handed. I prefer being able to put my thumb over the top of the sheath and *popping* it out, meant I could keep my other hand free to keep something in place.
Not that big a deal.
Shorter blade, shorter handle. Accommodates greater range of twisting motions, whittling, slicing.
Heavier, even compared to regular moraknivs. Can’t tell if they made the tang longer or it’s just the weight of the rubber grip. Some form of shatterproof material because people like to use knives for chopping wood instead of carrying a hatchet or kuhukuri. Point of balance on this thing suggests hammer grip, lock and engage the forearm instead of the wrist.
Really nice little blade. Probably going to be my every day simple tasker - I like having the serrations with the point, makes it very useful for breaking down cardboard, plants, meat. Might make my own scabbard for it, get around the access issue.
