Moonlight (2007) turns 20 next year (2027)

So I like to play around and crossover characters.

I would like to present two characters that are sassy, miserable monsters, in their own right.

First we have Mick St. John (Moonlight 2007).

He is a vampire turned in 1952. He currently works as a private investigator in Los Angeles. His whole thing is that he wants to help humans as best he can in order to make up for the monster he is by nature. He is not into drinking fresh blood and typically drinks donated blood.

And then we have Peter Hale (Teen Wolf 2011).

He is a born werewolf. Dude oscillates between villain and anti-hero. It sounds ridiculous but for him it works. It's almost a case by case basis (except for Stiles, but no one really understands that). He loves being a werewolf and his whole thing is about gaining knowledge and power.

Their interactions would be a masterclass in snark and cynicism. Peter's witty and sarcastic quips would clash with Mick's world-weary, noir-style voiceovers. Peter would make digs at Mick's self-imposed morality, while Mick would make withering observations about Peter's lack of a moral compass.

They would totally tick each other off enough to vamp/wolf out.

Both characters hold a cynical view of the world due to their long lives and traumatic pasts. They would find common ground in the belief that "the good guys" are often naive, and taking the moral high ground is not always effective.

Imagine them working together for some reason.

As a private detective with decades of experience, Mick's strengths lie in human-level detective work, observation, and accessing information through legal and vampire contacts. His vampiric senses, particularly his ability to track scents and glean details from the past through blood, would be invaluable for building a case.

Peter is a cunning and highly intelligent manipulator who uses his supernatural knowledge and combat prowess to achieve his goals. He would employ his connections to the broader supernatural community for information and use his predatory skills to deal with targets who cannot be handled through Mick's more ethical methods.

Peter would prefer a swift and ruthless approach, potentially using brute force or blackmail to get results. Mick would stick to his principles, favoring a clean and ethical solution. This difference would inevitably cause friction and arguments.

They might discover a shared emotional connection, such as Peter's protectiveness of his family and Mick's desire to protect the innocent. This could be the foundation for a grudging respect, showing that even with vastly different methods, they are both capable of defending others.

Josef: ...

Josef: What a stupid fucking quote.

Josef: I'm killing way more than two people, idiot.

Honestly every disc could be its own season if they'd paced it a little slower.

Disc 1:

Female lead (human reporter) meets the male lead - a vampire PI who has been stalking her since his ex kidnapped her as a child

They are immediately a will-they-won't-they situation

Female lead finds out about vampires almost immediately

Mostly the two leads work on cases and female lead learns about vampires

We find out the female lead has a boyfriend, actually

MALE LEAD FEEDS ON FEMALE LEAD so as not to die (How does this happen only 4 episodes in?? This episode feels like a season finale, it is insane)

Disc 2:

Female lead follows a story about a serial killer and oops, surprise, he's a vampire!

Vampire drugs

Clickbait sexy scene where female lead (on drugs) begs male lead to have his way with her

Lying to actual boyfriend in order to protect vampire bf PI

Female lead's new coworker looks exactly like male lead's vampire ex (who kidnapped female lead as a child) and male lead goes crazy trying to figure out if its her or not

The creepiest serial killer episode of TV I have ever seen, including actual serial killer/crime shows

Female lead finds out that male lead is actually the one who saved her when she was a kid (and that he has been stalking her)

Disc 3:

Doppelganger coworker tries to steal male lead from female lead (who, remember, has a different, human boyfriend) - and this makes the female lead very jealous

We find out the doppelganger actually IS the ex, who is deranged

The female lead rightfully stakes her but oopsie she had actually cured her vampirism - something the male lead apparently wants for himself

We find out that the cynical bestie of the male lead (a rich dick vampire) actually has a secret girlfriend in a coma that he can't move on from [this has nothing to do with the overall plot really but this episode felt like a huge plot twist for the character!]

Male lead's evil ex is revealed to be a vampire again (!?)

Male lead has to work with female lead's boyfriend to protect her from a gang

Boyfriend ends up fatally wounded and female lead begs male lead to turn boyfriend into a vampire for her, but he doesn't, so boyfriend dies (this causes problems between them, and cements his place as a plot device to cause conflict between them and nothing more)

It is revealed that the deranged ex was a vampire of royal blood during the French Revolution (this is all very important) when her scary sibling comes to town

Deranged ex CURES MALE LEAD'S VAMPIRISM(!?)

Disc 4:

Male lead enjoys being human again

Female lead's boss is murdered, female lead is kidnapped

New human male character is introduced to replace dead human boyfriend from previous episodes (importantly he is not dating the female lead, he's just.. there)

Male lead gets turned back into a vampire to save female lead [in a surprisingly sweet moment between him and his bff]

Female lead gets new boss (because her boss died)

Female lead goes to male lead's vampire bff to help cover up a leak re: vampires being real (he kills the person who found out)

Female lead quits her job

The leads start dating, like, actually

A plot involving male lead trying to find out if a missing boy is his grandson -- leading to conversations about how the leads wouldn't be able to have kids and isn't that sad

The audience is explicitly reminded that the leads have not had sex with each other (remember, they only just started dating. Trust us bro.)

Female lead breaks up with male lead because she's not sure she can date a vampire without becoming one and she isn't sure if she wants to become one

They get back together immediately. The end.

Also the series finale includes a plot hook for later plots that didn't happen that is literally a printed list of vampires, stapled together, which just has the same text repeated, including Vlad the Impaler as one of the named vampires (as well as the male lead)

I wonder if Gerald (the rouges sire, from episode 3) was actually able to sire before and he just never waited long enough for his creations to turn and he left them. Like he turned them and he like only waited around for five minutes or something.

Lestat would so try to lure Mick into his world of excess and celebrity, possibly offering him a place in his entourage.

Mick would probably reject this immediately.

Lestat would likely dismiss Mick as a "sentimental fool," while Mick would see Lestat as a "monster."

What's wild is that not only are they both performers, but were targeted and turned for being such.

Even though Louis was disappeared from the QotD film, Lestat would be well acquainted with the "Woe is me" style of being a vampire and would probably only tolerate it but for so long.
