Dare I say thereās an unaddressed anti-blackness in the way the warrior cats fandom makes designs. I do think it says something that Iāve seen thousands of designs with straight hair, with particular hairstyles like wolf cuts and bangs, even things like ponytails (which I have done!). But Iāve rarely seen curly hair given the same creativity in designs, and much less things like afros, braids, locs, twists.
You could argue that because the story is set in the UK, then if they would be any race, the cats would be White. I would argue that the setting honestly isnāt worth much, considering the amount of animals and plants that appear that are NOT native to the UK and not even invasive to the UK, and also THE TRIBE OF RUSHING WATER EXISTS, which is very deliberately and blatantly supposed to represent and parallel Indigenous Americans. The Americas, which are notably really really fucking far from the UK. It doesnāt matter, the cats can be coded as any race, the books themselves donāt seem to care for geography.
Also. If you really want to be that way, domestic cats originate from Africa and the Near East. So.
Also also, the cats have MAGICAL SUPERPOWERS and they have battles with ghosts and they get possessed and get struck by lightning and their dead ghost cat ancestors strike down a tree to kill someone and they LITERALLY HAVE ADDITIONAL LIVES GRANTED TO THEM BY THEIR ANCESTORS and the series lacks ANY internal consistency on the powers of StarClan and how much ability they have. Why are you trying to justify the absence of Black hairstyles and hair textures in fanon designs because it ādoesnāt make senseā, theyāre cats with organized religions, society, medicine, warfare, and they have fucking magic. A cat killed a mountain lion. In the UK.
Anyways Iām going to update my Cinderpelt design with locs, peace āļø
