Song Review: James Taylor - “Moon River” (Sunday Morning)

Being the skilled vocalist he is, James Taylor finds a way to make his weathered voice fit within his arrangement of “Moon River.”

The arrangement he chose for his performance of the Henry Mancini song on “Sunday Morning” is, however, lacking. With Taylor teasing the telltale acoustic-guitar riff from “Something in the Way She Moves” and Kevin Hays dominating on electric piano, this “Moon River” is awkward and dim.

But it almost worked out.
