Artist Research- Fiona Wilson
Fiona Wilson is a Scottish artist based in Glasgow, who usually works with paint and print.
I was really inspired by her 'Gothic Series', which features numerous prints involving skulls. The main printing techniques in this series are copper etching and monoprinting.
I thought it would be a good idea to investigate a print artist with similar imagery to my project to help me stay focused during this workshop.
Additionally, Wilson's inspiration for 'The Gothic Series' is from the idea that we try to see faces in everything - and this made me instantly think of irrational fears, for example seeing a coat or something in the corner of your eye and being terrified.
I also really enjoy Wilson's colour schemes! Some are black and white while others add splashes of faded colour. I think this is a really interesting and effective use of colour because it really helps to communicate the ideas behind her work.
